Separate automation length for a region?

I am wondering in Logic if it's possible to have the automation length longer / shorter than the actual track region. For example, I have an audio loop of 4 bars, but I want to have a filter plugin sweep for 8 bars. I can do this in Ableton by choosing "unlinked" in the envelope modulation lane and having its own length. Thanks

  • Use track automation instead of region automation.

I'll check into that and maybe a lesson in there.
    Thanks as always

It's super easy, there's an automation switch in the top-header (looks like the one in the piano-roll), enable it and pick a parameter to automate. When you 'write' automation you can select where it will be recorded (track or region) and you can also copy automation events and paste them on either the track or the region (for example if you recorded some automation in the region and want to move it to the track and vice-versa).

As I've been spending time with LogicPro for iPad since version 1.0 it's become 'second nature' and it works quite well for me and my use-cases without having to think too much :sunglasses:

  • Yeah, you seem like an expert Logic user. I am starting to get into it myself. For one thing, it's super stable.
I like the sound too! The plugins rock.
