Audiobus tab switching ?
Hi, I just got the app for my iPad and studio set up. It's great and does everything I need.
My question is that I thought by pressing on the icon of an audio plugin on the main screen it would quickly change to the full screen interface of that plugin. This would be super handy and would save me closing one screen and opening another. But when I press on the icon nothing happens. Is this normal?

You're correct that it should happen that way. Unfortunately some apps haven't updated their Audiobus SDK and don't work properly with it anymore. Audiobus itself may be developing some problems. It has had a somewhat rocky ride since being purchased by a new developer.
If you can be more specific about which apps you're referring to perhaps I or someone else can do some tests. Please also note what iPad model and iPadOS version you're running.
Has much happened since the new devs? I came on the scene right as that was happening to the point where I got it when it was free for a couple days during the transition. It looks like no updates to any apps in about a year. Did the new company have a reason to buy it and do nothing towards improvements or maintenance?
Virtually nothing has happened since all the fiasco they created by the botched attempt to take it subscription. First, they took away functionality from existing owners in violation of App Store ground rules. Then, they botched fixing it for existing users a few times. I think those issues were worked out, but nothing new has emerged since then.
Just my personal opinion, but I think they purchased it with expectations of getting subscription and ad revenue, and when those two revenue streams failed to materialize, they lost interest. But that's just speculation. For all I know they could be working on some grand update that's just taking a long time.
On top of that, app developers seem to have lost interest in providing updated Audiobus support. Support is being dropped in more than one app, and fewer developers are releasing re-compiled versions of legacy apps to update their Audiobus compatibility.
Yeah I think Koala recently removed or considered removing Audiobus (or maybe IAA or both?)
Thanks everyone for your help. I have an iPad 10 \ latest OS.
It's a shame it looks like it might be getting abandoned - having just subscribed to it.
I moved from AUM because I really needed the global MIDI clock control which I can set with an external sequencer.
If anyone knows how to do this in AUM - let me know. There used to be a free app which done this - but it is no longer available on the store.
I'd highly suggest you put the (ridiculous) Audiobus subscription price toward a one-time purchase of Loopy Pro. Ask for a refund for Audiobus if you can. You're perfectly justified on the grounds that it doesn't work as advertised.
Even if you don't use it Loopy Pro for any of the looping capabilities, it's an outstanding host that can do everything Audiobus can do for bridging midi clock as stably as anything on the platform.
Thx , I took your advice and playing with loopy pro now, it looks rock solid and does what I need. My only gripe is not being able to quickly switch between plugin interfaces .. not a deal breaker though.
Yes, the Audiobus app switcher was great when it worked.
You can at least switch to standalone apps from Loopy Pro if you add them as audio inputs, but you have to switch back to Loopy Pro to go to the next app, and that isn't always easy if the app doesn't implement the IAA button bar.
For better or worse, IAA is dying. That's a shame for people that use legacy apps or that prefer to have full screen, but moving toward AUv3 plugins is eventually not going to be optional.
Loopy has "almost" full screen for AUv3 plugins. AUM has literal full screen available. I know, often that's not the same experience as in the standalone app though.
thx - I've a learned a lot here..
