New Fabfilter Pro-C 3

edited January 15 in Desktop

New version update to the already fantastic Pro-C 2! 🤩
https://www.fabfilter.com/products/pro-c-3-compressor-plug-in

"FabFilter Pro-C 3 is a high-quality compressor plug-in for the most demanding engineers. Whether you need subtle mastering compression, an upfront lead vocal, that magic drum glue or deep EDM pumping: Pro-C 3 gets the job done with style."

Edit: This thread was posted five minutes before Nino’s in iOS general section, so if it’s not desktop specific, better to keep conversation there.

  • The control window for other dynamic FF tools in the chain is phenomenal, I hope they will add creative FX ones too. 👌

When I bought Pro-Q 4, I looked into whether the bundle was worth it and what their update schedule was like. I Imagine most of these are getting updated throughout the next couple years or less.

I bought the whole FF suite because all those tools are my go-to defaults and to be independent of any DAW stock plugins. So it’s worth the investments. And I really like the logic behind UX and the quality of code.

I also have iZotope products, but I can’t keep up with the costs of updates. It looks like failed investments for me, 🤦‍♂️💸 because they obviously started to focus on the subscription model.

The point is, it’s a good thing with FabFilter’s slow and quality-focused updates. 😌

Yep I agree. Fabfilter prices are steep but it’s high quality tools that I’m using in literally every project on Mac.

Having the same experience with iZotope. A while back I bought Ozone essential (or whatever it’s called) and had access to that automatic mixing mode but also manual stereo widening, compressor, transient shaper and eq. One or two (paid) updates later I‘m left with one amazing automatic AI mixing button but no manual control whatsoever.
Definitely the wrong company to invest into.

With Fabfilter I know what I got and it will stay that way for a long time to come.

Fabfilter are working on a whole console. Dope! Take my money!

    :)

As I said in the other thread, I instabought Pro-C 3. I know it's $29.99, but it's Fabfilter! See, I don't instabuy all the latest plugins that everyone releases as I try to be wise with what I spend money on. :) So having more money saved up means I can afford to instabuy more expensive plugins. Fabfilter is a must for me as I'm an FF completionist. Same with Gadget (usually Module Pro IAPs) and Cubasis.

The only tools I still need from iZotope are RX, Insight 2, Neoverb, and Vocal Synth. Everything else is covered by FabFilter. I could use Ozone just fine, but what’s the point if I already decided to skip on this company? And if someone needs AI integration, Sonible is a way better option, imho.

Totally. They’re great. Very quality. Pro-Q 4 and that collision window ability when running on multiple tracks unlocked a lot about EQ in general for me.

My point was trying to be frugal and looking into finding out that their update path of some new ones seem more likely sooner rather than later, so holding out for a bit as i’m still new to all of this music stuff, felt appropriate. I mean I only even contemplated their products because the new Pro-Q 4 came out so they’re like fresh to me.

Personally I know myself well enough that if i didn’t do that bit of looking up what their typical update window was and I dropped a hunch of money for products that are getting updated soon that would just build resentment.

They seem to know that at FabFilter, they have a very generous update model (4-5 years IIRC) and it you buy a product that does get updated within a few months you get the new update free as a show of good faith (on desktop)

Don’t get me wrong, i’m getting all the ones on watchlist the second I see em, like I did Pro-Q 4.

I wish I had known in advance which tools would remain in my workflow, I could have saved so much money. My only advice for you is to take the opportunity with the affordable iPadOS FF counterparts. If you find yourself using them frequently in every project, then be free to invest in the desktop versions.

    Can’t wait for Saturn 🪐 & Volcano especially 🌋

Saturn is so much versatile, you'll use it for much more than just simple saturation. The same goes for Volcano, it's everything but a funky EQ. For me, using MIDI notes for the dynamic node movements in Volcano is something I can’t work without, haha. 🤦‍♂️😅

  • Jimmy, this thread is for the desktop version, so the iOS guys won’t be upset about desktop-only stuff. 🤭
