    .

  • Looks like it'll be a great show! :) My Packers were eliminated from playoffs by the Bears, so I'll probably give the Superbowl a miss. But, I'm looking forward to checking out this halftime show on Youtube when they post it there.

I’ll try to watch it real time, but it’s more likely that I’ll end up watching it on YT as well.

Me, I have no TV and probably won't resub to the NFL+ app to watch two teams I've no investment in face off against each other. 😂 So yeah, YT it is for me.

    Love it.

Yeah, I like how it’s so diverse and how each person dances to the music differently and not strictly salsa. Even the country coded clothing does a little line dancing thing. They all look like professional dancers, though, Im not fooled lol

That song feels/sounds like music I grew up with.
It reminds me of growing up in Florida and spending time in Puerto Rico. Crazy it came out LAST YEAR.
I don't often get nostalgic, but for a moment it got me.

Also the track on the record is 6 minutes long, love to see it.
Never got around to listening to him before, glad I caught up with his music before the game.

This is the only album of BB i bought, and from what I hear it’s different from previous albums in that it explores a lot of genres from his region: salsa, bachata, bolero, old school reggaeton, etc.

    Funny story:

I gained a ton of respect for him after I heard a salsa song that turned out to be a cover of one of his songs. Previously, I had been put off by one of his songs that I heard at a store and rap, trap, and unfortunately my tastes are very set and kind of narrow so I never heard any of his music again until the salsa cover, which stuck with me for a couple of weeks.

eventually I sought out the original, and spent some time with some of his other music, and it was obvious the guy (and his team) have a great ear for a hook— BB has a good number of catchy songs, imo.

Thats one thing about music I love, no matter how popular; no matter how we get around to giving it a go, it’s can be a challenge to push past our initial first impressions and to find something we appreciate about the art.

Enjoy that story you shared.I hadn’t listened to him ever and my jaw dropped that the song they were all dancing to was him. Definitely didn’t assume he had that kinda style, ignorantly so, as I never gave him a go. I just never got around to it.

What genres are you typically into?

Same exact presumption and impression here.

My wife and i love listening to El Viaje on Saturday nights on our local radio station WRTI, but anyone world-wide can listen to the previous show at any time.

  • 👊 @offbrands . The first minute is all the different station tags and the last few seconds of the prior show’s music.

  • Oh wow, that is a killer website @Blipsford_Baubie

What genres are you typically into?

I’m very into sounds that were mainstream in the MTV/radio 80s. So Synthpop, dance pop, new wave, r&b, funk, some rap on one hand and AOR rock, glam bands on the other. This includes recent acts mining the 80’s.

Salsa, Latin pop/rock, dub/roots reggae are the other big chunk. I also know I like soul and blues, but haven’t explored them as much since I started messing around with music.

I’ve in fact been stuck on a synthpop/new wave/glam loop because that’s what I have been trying to get the hang of for songwriting. I’ve been working on my first 80s rock style so lately my musical diet has been a lot of Def Leppard, Dokken, Journey, etc, lol

I do listen to other genres and decades, but more on a song by song basis.

    What are your mainstay genres?

  • love the inclusiveness of it all. but I miss a good rock concert at halftime. no politics or agendas or underlying tones etc. just music and fun

  • Inclusivity is not politics and shouldn't be. Don't let other people turn what is common decency into politics.

I imagine most people have genre's they favor, whether intentionally or not, nice to read the type of music you're into and some of the intention behind it! I hope you post that 80's song you're working on when you're finished!

Oh yeah, I will! The feedback in this forum has always been useful and encouraging.

I should have asked what you have been listening to lately so I appreciate you answering that as, usually, it can be a hard question to parse, so thank you for doing that and my bad!

Mainstay genres in this phase of my life seems to be Motion Picture Original Soundtracks (OST's), Pop, EDM (Techno, Trance, IDM) - I favor women vocalists / higher range male artists is something I've come to accept in the last several years. Something evidently in my brain likes the way those frequencies dance.

There's albums I will always come back to in similar genres, or nostalgic for me, Alt-Pop / Indie from the 2000's, some Emo elements some would argue, I grew up in the PNW of USA so there was a ton of bands that were popular to millennials on myspace that are just core revisits once a year or so.

But I'll try practically anything out, even if I don't like it, I'll give it at least 3 listens, not all with intent, maybe like in the background.

There's something about challenging myself to listen to stuff I don't necessarily love but want to find what it's about that has really helped me musically. I used to listen to podcasts all the time for background noise while working and I still listen to a few, but kinda switched it up to this instead.

If I see an album people are talking about on Forums or what have you, I'll add to MusicBox and try it out.

All this to say I lately I've listened to a few more so than others - I found out about Dijon (the artist lol) and I've been listening to his albums a lot. Very Bon Iver. Seems to have a lot of respect in the music industry almost like a musicians musicians.

Listened to Bad Bunnys albums all day yesterday, his newest one, to me, is his best. He challenges himself more and the production is far better for it. Really respect it.

Also somehow I was one of the top 100 listeners of Floating points last year and that trend hasn't died (according to apple music which gives users in the top 100 an extra stat if they are the top listeners of the artist, and you would get a percent if you're not in there lol)

I wish I could reset myself on purpose and kick in the curiosity. I feel like the only way this happens for me is when I accidentally stumble upon a song outside my usual wheelhouse that hits me hard-- like the way that unexpectedly finding a cover of BB led me to check playlists with his music, or when a friend accidentally put an 'outlaw country' station on satellite radio.

To my detriment, usually, when music is outside my wheelhouse and I'm force to listen by circumstance (being in a store, someone else's car, etc), it tends to cement my aversion because it affects my mood negatively.

I do admire the ability to be able to put that aside and listen as objectively as possible.
