iPhone 12 Pro w/ iOS 26 … has no access to the autofill data that was previously there

Like the title says.

I have an even older iPad (Pro 2nd gen; iPadOS 17.7.10) and that still has all of what was previously shared autofill data - for Safari, I mean.

In the specific Settings section on the iPhone (General -> Autofill & Passwords), “AutoFill from:” is followed by nothing whatsoever, and has been ever since updating to iOS 26. It’s now on 26.2 (i.e., the latest, AFAIK), and that hasn’t helped at all.

Not sure what to do about it, but it certainly is irritating, and gets in the way every single day - I know that much.

  • Do you have the 'Share Across Devices' enabled in the Safari settings?
    If not enable it...

  • For passwords make sure all devices are using the Passwords.app and not the old Keychain thing...

  • Yes, that setting is still enabled - always was. The Passwords app requires iOS/iPadOS 18, which my old iPad can’t run…

I’m out of options, it seems. :(

Yeah, one option that is hard to ‘revert’ is the migration to using passwords.app to manage the passwords. On first launch of the passwords.app you do get the option to migrate but after that no going back…
(For me it means that I have to manually keep the passwords in sync between my old iPad Air2 and iPhone 8 with the rest of the devices that already use the Passwords.app).

  • Oh, so that app did work (on the phone). Thanks, solved!
