"SOLVED" Loopy Pro Reset AUv3 Cascade Freeze reverb when recording clip

edited January 22 in Loopy Pro

Hello,

I apologize if this topic has already been discussed — I searched the forum but couldn’t find a relevant thread. Please feel free to direct me to the proper one if it exists.

When I use Reverb Cascade by Phonolyth on a Bus track with the Freeze function, the freeze stops as I start recording a clip,

An AI explained to me that
When Loopy Pro starts recording a clip, it may automatically bypass or reset certain AUv3 effects.

It suggested the following possible workarounds:

Use Cascade’s “Infinity” button instead of “Freeze” — it sustains reverb tails without blocking new audio
It doesn't work.

Place Cascade post-loop in Loopy Pro (e.g., on the master FX or playback chain) so that recording captures a dry signal, but playback includes the reverb.
I don't understand that.

Manually toggle Freeze off before recording, then re-enable it after the clip starts.
Not realistic.

Try Mix Lock mode in Cascade to maintain the wet/dry balance across presets or states.
I don't understand that.

Are there better suggestions?

  • @cellicello : can you post a link to a video demonstrating the issue? Please make sure that the Cascade window is open.

Note that LLMs are unreliable sources of information particularly for niche apps.

You can upload a video to a video sharing site and post a link here.

  • I just checked in AUM and Loopy Pro. When the transport starts, Cascade seems to clear its freeze buffer.

I don't want to use my YouTube channel for this kind of video.
    I'll contact the developer.

You can mark a video unlisted on YouTube. It doesn't need to be actually public to be shared here. Though you could also maybe use an alternative like Vimeo if you prefer.

Does that mean that a possible solution for @cellicello is to keep the transport running before and after recording the clip?

@cellicello, is the transport involved in your recording process? Also, is "IDLE" turned off in the Cascade plugin?

  • @wim : idling isn’t involved. It is the transport starting. The same thing happens in AUM when its transport starts.

@cellicello I just found a solution. Cascade has a preference that clears the tail on playback. Turn it off.

Right. That was extra information. I'm still curious if the issue is there if the transport is running the whole time. Not important as you found a setting that works, however.

It doesn’t happen if the transport is always running. It only happens when the transport goes from stopped to running.

So ... just sayin' ... avoiding that could have been an alternative solution.

That’s it. Thank you so much — I owe you even more now.

    It's time consuming to do.
On discord you can upload videos to the post directly.
I sometimes use Dropover upload function (fast also), but it only give a link to another website.
