"Ambience as Ritual" eBook (for Ambient producers and aficionados)
A very wonderful friend of mine brought this book to my attention.
https://cololrsinspace.gumroad.com/l/tcfecn?layout=profile
The book talks about Ambient principles in relation to the OP-1 Field and OP-XY, but the principles contained in this book are very much applicable to any method(s) you use for creating Ambient music.
(In my case, I currently use Koala Sampler in AUM to sample apps and play back loops, drones and sequences. The output of which is recorded in AUM through a reverb of choice and TAIP and mastered in Cubasis 3. But that's only my current process. I may dive back into DAW-based Ambient in Cubasis 3 in the future. Then again, afaik Cubasis' sequencer lacks "chance" which Koala's sampler definitely has. Koala also has amazing looping abilities for long drones including crossfade and ping-pong modes.)
Anyways, I hope you get something out of this. The eBook is listed as pay-what-you-want. I paid $5 and, after reading the table of contents, am kicking myself for not paying more. 🤦♂️

You can tag the author to thank him personally, he's been a member of this forum for years haha @colorsinspace
Thanks @jwmmakerofmusic (I think of him as Jay Dub) and @Gavinski for directing my attention to this text.
I picked up a copy and left a tip too. I noticed I recently picked up the @colorsinspace Amebient Preset package for
Outgrowth and those presets demonstrate the key findings of @colorsinspace for generating compelling ambient textures.
The combination of the text book, OutGrowth and the Preset package really clarify how to approach and architect some in testing ambient work.
@gavinski I need to revisit TAIP as an option to leveraging OutGrowth which it seems @colorsinspace is using in his creations.
I expect you are also finding really good features in OutGrowth for your experiments.
FAC Alteza is a wonderful reverb option along with the classic EOS 2 and Eventide Blackhole.
You know what's funny is I saw the name @colorsinspace but didn't realize it was our friend and forum member (my brain didn't put 2+2 together, lol). That's so cool!
So far this eBook is very well thought out and well written! The kind of knowledge I'd hope to (re)learn.
"I was wondering why I saw such a huge spike in downloads for my handbook last night! I eventually traced it back to this thread, and I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for the shoutout. There are a million ways to make ambient music, of course, but I hope these tips spark some new ideas for you all. Much appreciated!"
Forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question please. I’m always open to listening and appreciating music that’s outside of my usual galaxy. I’m a guitarist and keyboardist who has played in rock/blues oriented bands in the past(almost 50 years).
It looks like this book is centered around some specific hardware(?). Are there iOS (IPad specifically) apps that approximate that hardware? Could I make do or get close with some of the software synths I have (I have several, too many to list).
Finally, where is a good place to start as far as listening and learning about ambient music as it’s being discussed here?
I'd say Youtube...just search for ambient and you'll get loads of hits...
For the subgenre "Dark Ambient" I'd recommend Cryo Chamber https://www.youtube.com/@cryochamberlabel
My favorite band now is Cosmic Ground. One of the guys from Electric Orange making ambient and Berlin School of music

I started making a video series based on the handbook. I’ve been a little busy but I plan on moving forward with the videos soon.
