Or just add up the percentages and divide by 3 to get the percentage for each, actually.

That's how the javascript thing I wrote does it. Will update momentarily.

  • Thanks Matt and syrupcore. Great work well done!

  • Yes, cheers for doing this Matt. The results won't square with everyone, but that's the nature of these things.

  • Should we now vote on whether we approve of the result or not?

We could have a referendum on whether we approve of the poll results as posted? Maybe on Sunday?

I'm in the "yes" camp, the my three top options came out in the right order.

  • It's a good list. I hope that Korg takes note as it is a valid sample size. With a keyboard sampler just added to Cubasis, and midi promised for Auria, the competition keeps getting more intense.

  • My top three results didn't all make it, but I don't care about that. The process is the thing.

And what are audiotrax worth if everything sounds shite without the ability to give them a proper EQ/FX finish? That's still not much more than a toy in my opinion...

and will probably never happen.I can't imagine they would add audio tracks without the ability to fx them at least with some most basic stuff.

  • I have a feeling that this poll really doesn't matter as KORG will do as KORG always does anyway...

I think we'll see a playable 'Keyboard Sampler' before we see 'AudioTracks' as it fits better with the 'Scene' approach that Gadget uses. For long 'AudioTracks' to even make sense inside Gadget, Gadget should get a 'Linear' mode in addition to the 'Scene mode'.

  • It was Korg themselves who brought up the audio tracks feature way back when this all began, surely they have a plan for implementing it at some point in the future otherwise why even mention it?

  • A cunning plan?

  • Switch MIDI implementation with Undo, and I'm good. That undo would be a godsend if, say, you accidentally deleted a long note that had its velocity adjusted and was placed slightly off the grid. Simply redrawing a note is no big deal, but having to adjust everything else all over again is a huge creativity killer. I'd rather have undo before better MIDI implementation.

  • Multiple fx, midi and arrangement were my top three. Ultimately I'd rather load Gadget as a plugin in Auria.

  • Though it was not explicitly suggested to vote in order of most to least important, that's probably what most people did. Were I Korg, I would also pay attention to the results per poll question because there is interestingness. Check out the numbers underneath Multiple Undo—they get higher with each sub poll. Quite a few actually go up across the results. Or note how each audio tracks result is higher than almost every other single result (bar maybe 2 or 3 from the top contenders). Or that the top three account for 70% of the first sub poll.

Indeed, it would be most interesting to see the way individuals voted—does picking a particular option in poll one make it more likely that you'd pick particular option in poll three? Would that help identify types of users and paint a clearer picture of their needs?

I'd also probably pay attention to the fact that the order for the questions didn't change with each participant. That will skew the result towards the first few possibilities in all polls. Particularly in tl;dr Internet land.

  • Btw,thanks for the work with this poll!

  • Clips capable of being selected independently (Ableton Live style)
Gadgets should retain their setting per clip
Import sample, assign to pad, with latch, auto bpm detection, pitch control
I missed the poll but these would be great.

    +1 on all that.

I love the fact we've unleashed the professor on this... :)

This detailed analysis gives food for thought ... supposed, the three major demands(?) can get agreed upon, further concerted effort to reach congruence on the wording will most definitely be required.
The presented proposal ideally will include then in-depth addressing of the needed adjustments ... like the latest posts already show.

  • Is there any bribe you'd accept Matt to add a few percentage points to the automation category and get syrupcore to look the other way?

Money, I wouldn't be so crude, I was thinking a case of jack daniel's.

  • I would like to add my thanks for your efforts, @Matt_Fletcher_2000 and @SyrupCore. Glad to see MIDI out on the list. I think Korg would like to see people buying all their cool little hardware synths and beat boxes and sequencing them with Gadget.

  • Just a note to say that I haven't forgotten about this but need to summon up the time and energy to do something with it... Next week hopefully.

  • I always felt full on audio tracks wont happen because of the soundcloud aspect and it just degenerating into non gadgety remix land with too much 'external contamination' or some such thing.

  • edited July 2015

I know this is probably too late and too insignificant a voice, but would be cool if for audio tracks they added it as a Gadget, like say a field recorder. Maybe one that connected to AudioBus, IAA, and ACP, and had simple tape effects you could apply or something along those lines. They could name it after some backwoods town in the spirit of the device.

Would be cool too if they extended the number of bars available to 32 or 64 for this hypothetical device too, so that you could get long bits of audio into your projects.

I don't know, I'd just like to see them keep the whole Gadget thing going, rather than just adding a generic audio track.

  • Interesting 3rd party plugins only got 8%. It means the synths in Gadget are really great in that people are not desiring more.
