Your "banging young girls" comment has vanished. A case of "wait until the heat dies down and then quietly delete it"?

It’s still there. It’s on page 6 of that other post. The one where the author used UPPERCASE LETTERS in the title to show how serious he was. It still has my warning to the less astute readers who need everything spelled out.

My original comment was made on Jan. 17. A few days later I received a polite request from our moderator indicating that some members might take offense to it. He asked me to qualify my statement. I did that on Jan. 23. In hindsight, I think it was a good call on his part, and made my original comment more meaningful.

Satire - The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

Parody - A creative work—such as literature, music, film, or art—that imitates another, often well-known, work or genre in an exaggerated or comedic fashion to mock, critique, or comment on it.

What the far left fails to recognize is that people outside of their circle have different opinions. In 2024, those people made their opinions known by electing Donald Trump. Since then, the far left has become increasingly hysterical, to the point of becoming violent in public. Instead of presenting new ideas and engaging in civilized debate, all I hear is "Resist, Resist", without any new policies or ideas.

I don't like to refer to the far left as Democrats. At one time, being a liberal Democrat was something to be proud of. I was a liberal Democrat in the past. Something happened to my party over the years, and I had to abandon it. The same thing can be said of the far right. So-called Republicans got us into needless wars where people died, and billions of taxpayer dollars were spent with no tangible benefits. However, it did make a few Republicans very rich at my expense.

I would suggest that the Democrats take back their party from far left radicals. Find a charismatic candidate that can connect to average people with a few good, solid ideas. It wouldn't take much, just 2 or 3 simple, easily understood policies that benefit everybody. Then, if elected, follow through on those promises. Ms. Harris didn't offer any policy except "I'm not Trump".

I don't view Trump as a Republican. He was actually thought of as a Democrat for decades. I think of him as a disrupter to both sides. He offered a few simple ideas that the majority agreed with and he was elected. After his election, he followed through on those promises.

The so-called Democrats had the opportunity and the VOTES to change immigration law, but they did nothing. They left Trump with a PR nightmare when he enforced those laws that were never changed. It was all political.

If anyone on the far left has any explanation, I am willing to listen. Posting images like the ones above don't do anything to turn down the heat. They don't change anybody's mind or cause them to think differently. The level of hatred has increased to the point where I think a new civil was is a possibility. The difference between now and then is that we don't have a Mason-Dixon line to delineate between sides. There are no blue or gray uniforms to tell who is who. It will turn into bloody chaos. Think of Mad Max.

The thing for the far left to keep in mind is that their "soldiers" are undisciplined, unwilling to talk, and act impulsively without thinking of consequences. They will never take orders from anyone. When things get really violent, they will be put down quickly. Unfortunately, by that time there will be no law and order, and all the lawyers in the world won't be able to help. Legal paper will not stop a bullet.

I am neither a Republican or Democrat. I am standing on the outside looking in. What I see is very scary.

Wake up, people on both sides. You are all being played.

If anybody out there actually read this far, I would like to hear from you. I'm not holding my breath.

    Cue the crickets...

p.s. I don’t expect a considered response. Just explaining so that if someone starts reading here, they will know why he might not got thoughtful replies.

  • @espiegel123 I have repeatedly asked why millions of illegal immigrants were allowed to enter, bypassing the legal process. I have also asked why the immigration laws were never changed if the intent was to provide people with a better life. Nobody here has provided an explanation. Nothing. Why don't you be the first?

  • I’m sad to say it but this forum has become a bit of a shitshow IMO. Music communities, even more tech based ones like this, used to be natural gatherings for creatives, nerds and freaks. Open and welcoming to minorities. A place for the underground. International. Punk, folk, reggae, hip hop, techno, ambient. With protest and fighting injustice not always discussed but always there in the background. And we all know that makes for great music… A bit daft, sure. Idealistic, you bet. But still a haven to let your freak flag fly.

Now it feels like a watering hole for a small number of US-based rightwing commentators who have an outsized voice. It is so jarring to the vibe of what a music community used to represent.

God I miss hanging out at the record stores, the clubs and the festivals. These nasty opinions would have been quashed in seconds and laughed out the door. It’s too bad.

And there are stats that indicate millions were deported. Obama and Biden deported millions.
I hope you look into that aspect of the immigration debate. Because not known ng simple facts make understanding harder.

Now Trump change the game by splitting up immigrants families, so breaking into the US became less safe. That’s a policy that changed the incoming stats. Cruel but effective. Hitler probably didn’t want to kill Jews in mass but no one would accept them… there’s a clue where we end up if we put millions into centers. If will be cheaper to reduce their numbers.

I have also asked why the immigration laws were never changed if the intent was to provide people with a better life. Nobody here has provided an explanation. Nothing. Why don't you be the first?

Start with Newt Gingrich and you will learn how the 2 party system can be gamed to make compromise impossible. Come back after you do that simple research into how laws are made and passed.

The Big Beautiful Bill has $150B for creating a Federal Police Force called ICE and the centers to hold enemies of the state. The enemies are currently being labeled “domestic terrorists” and ICE has the power and license to decide if you are one. Courts and due process are not required… despite a law detailed in the 4th amendment (I hope I got that right).

To become a Park Ranger now you must include your social networking and create a list of things you like about Trump’s administration. Experience with nature not so important as loyalty.

Anyway… when people say wake up they can mean do the work of understanding how the government works and how you can influence it.

Protest can be a non-violent way to change things. But as we are learning… it can also be dangerous. Not for the timid or risk averse.

There's so much rightwing shit online in other spaces, on social media and YouTube algorithms etc. I'm just pining for the creative haven that I feel music communities including the old Audiobus forum used to be, I guess. Ah. Now you’re digging up the really old propaganda.

Ivana (not Ivanka) Trump made a statement during her divorce proceedings to her lawyer. It was not part of any legal proceedings, sworn testimony or anything else rising to that level. Consider it no more than a political smear, which somehow is treated as fact these days. Think more critically on this one. They were getting divorced.

Since you proclaim to be an avid reader, read up on Miller's history, he absolutely wants to kill millions of minorities.

I wish I could invent a time machine so I could send Miller and his wife, how is browner than me, to 1930s Germany so that his idol, Goebbels, can give him a nice welcome.

  • Here’s a little fact: Stephen Miller wants ICE to find 3,000 immigrants per day.

    365 x 3000 =1,095,000 immigrants per year.

He’s probably holding back waiting for the average citizen to get on board with the program.
The only way to hit 10 million in Trump’s 2nd term they will need us to start turning in our neighbors.
    Trump has roughly 365 x 3 =1,095 days left.

10,000,000 / 1095 = 9,132.42 immigrants per day on average. He’s going to need our help to find people faster
    And more efficiently.

Or we could, change the balance of power in the House and Senate and impeach Trump and indict them for their
Crimes. We really tried to do that after his first term in office but we hit processing delays in the courts. Go figure.
We won’t make that mistake again. I suspect.

Or civilly war will break out and we can solve the disagreement with a 2nd Amendment solution like we did in 1861.

I’m sure there are a few other scenarios that folks can propose.

    Those numbers are completely off.

There were already roughly 22 million illegal aliens in the US before either Trump or Biden were in office (per a Yale study: https://insights.som.yale.edu/insights/yale-study-finds-twice-as-many-undocumented-immigrants-as-previous-estimates ) and Biden's people let in another 10-13 million (since Biden's administration did not record the actual numbers of people being allowed in illegally at the border and by plane and the number of "gotaways", it's really anyone's guess what the real numbers are.

In other words, they'd have to be deporting possibly 30,000+ people daily to send back every illegal alien and visa overstay in the US today.

This has nothing to do with legal migrants, in other words, those who followed the laws.

According to best estimates, number of deportations range widely, anywhere between 1/2 million to 3 million so far in Trump's first year.

  • The Yale study is interesting because —if it is accurate—it largely undermines the moral panic of the people that hate undocumented immigration so much. The authors point out that if the number of undocumented immigrants is as high as they claim: the crime rate among them is far less than the crime rate of legal residents.

The people that are so horrified by the number of undocumented immigrants are afraid of numbers that are not borne out of some generally accepted rational analysis.

You don't need to explain. I know what satire and parody are.

I just don't believe your comment was either of them.
