They should remove the word PRO from the name and call it Logic Buggy (maybe someday will fix, but probly not) :D

In the crash-logs it's still called Mobile Logic or was it Logic Mobile :sunglasses:

Will be interesting to see if the Logic Team ramps up the update/bug-fix schedule which will be needed if there's a lot of new users who jump onboard the Logic Train due to the subscription on both Mac and iPad and start to run into various issues and quirks...
(I've done my share in the past and many of those things are still present in both Mac and iPad versions of Logic).

I take it the $4.99/month model may have been insufficient for maintaining the software, so hoping for the best with this latest experiment.

  • FWIW, usually with Logic there is a bug fix release that occurs a couple months after a major release. Folks with critical workflows going should probably wait until that bug fix release ships. point-zero releases of Logic should probably be treated like public betas

Anyone else running into a fully unresponsive channel strip every now and then?

Had it happen a few times since 3.0 that after closing a plugin window that I can’t interact with anything on there.

Only fix I’ve found is to duplicate the whole project, but it comes back after a while 😬

yup had that happen quite a couple of times

FYI and if anyone else runs into this, I’ve discovered a repro + a temp workaround (and reported to Apple):

    • The bug occurs when a minimum sized plug-in window is closed.* Happens with both internal and AUv3 plug-ins.
    • To work around this, simply make sure that windows are never closed when minimum sized (i tend to just give the window bar a wiggle before closing for now).

*it won’t always happen, but this seems to be the trigger action in my experience so far.

If you do run into it, the quickest way to reset is just to hit the project name drop-down in the top left, hit re-name, hit enter. The project will re-load and the plug-in area will be responsive again.

  • He started floundering pretty hard at 9:21 when asked about whether Legacy users will keep receiving feature updates.

  • It’s obvious they treating lp4i as a new program. Should fall under if you own logic on Mac you own the iPad version also. 4 years of subscription I bought the desktop version again.

That would be nice, but I can understand their wanting to expand their Logic Pro user base AND have it be a self-sustaining profit center for the company.

With forced OS/iOS updates for new versions requiring new hardware purchases to keep up with extra CPU demands, it already is.

Hardware sales are typically every 3-4 years for customers. Logic Pro (on iPadOS) represents a steady, predictable revenue stream for them, and that will probably be even more so with the new bundle.

I purchased a 13” Air M2 specifically to use LP4i, since the screen on my perfectly usable for anything else Air 4 11” was too cramped for Logic. I have several other music-making friends that did the same, coincidentally also not buying into the new bundle.

I wouldn’t have bothered with a second, new iPad otherwise. And I’m typing now on the still-going-strong Air 4 since I find the 13” too clunky for general use.

We’ll never know the exact figures, but income from the bundle will be minus:

One off purchases from desktop software.
iOS users of bundled apps discontinuing subscriptions
Will need to include revenue from existing subscriptions
    Massive discounts for education users
Hardware sales from users who will now no longer be trapped in an upgrade cycle

That extra £8 a month is going to be doing some pretty heavy lifting.

  • Getting more attuned to this Logic:

  • I'm having a blast with the new features in the Pattern Sequencer:

    This thing is wild
