  • Very cool. Hopefully, this make it like Link where it's available in other apps as well.

  • Holy crap. That’s cool

App devs should be able to implement Link Audio.
Believe they are going to share Link Audio on the GitHub Repro soon according to the Team.

  • Ableton updates are fab.

I've been using it for years, but every week I seem to stumble upon something new. Last week I discovered that it's not just possible to copy and paste an audio block between songs, but also an entire track - devices, settings and all. So I've been going through half-abandoned songs (there's a lot of them), and picking out the good bits to mix n match into new songs.

  • Also the move is going to have audio tracks

  • They mention right off the bat that a wired connection is going to be much preferred over WiFi. I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for audio over WiFi unless high latency is acceptible.

Sonobus is similar. Latency and / or occasional dropouts are unavoidable over WiFi. Even ethernet has some latency, but it's very workable.

Maybe Ableton have managed to more highly optimize. Also eliminating two middle-man app instances will no-doubt go a long way.

  • The final nail in the coffin for the iPad ecosystem. I just tried multitrack audio linking with Ableton Move and the Mac beta… absolutely insane.

Are you speaking for yourself or in general? It'll be available to be incorporated into iPad apps too.

  • That’s amazing. Can hook up my MacBook and MacMini to double the processing power.

How many tracks are possible over Link Audio ?

edit Google AI says unlimited for Live Suite , to answer my own question ,
unless it has confused the software itself with the Link Audio protocol.

I imagine the number of tracks supported will be determined by the apps that implement the API. This isn't something that runs standalone where you get to choose how many channels you want to stream between devices. It becomes part of the hardware, app, or DAW. It'll depend on what senders and receivers support.

Depends on the network reliability and speed at the time.

  • Mac Minis were going quite cheap until Clawbot came along.

  • I bopped over to the AUM discord server and added a feature request for Link Audio, in case anyone wants to go over there and upvote it! I see this as a way to finally be able to move ideas from AUM into Live with relatively low friction. Of course I'd also love to see it in Battlestation, GR2, Loopy Pro, etc., but AUM is my go-to little sandbox.
