When Fascism Comes to America
A soundscape built with some of my Synthmaster 2 presets.
The voiceover was done with my voice, processed with Baby Audio Humanoid.
Words below:
When fascism comes to America
Ushered in by hateful minds
When fascism comes to America
Sanewashed by the New York Times
Look around you, you will see
Who among you longs to be
Wearing jackboots, while on their knees
And shoot to kill who disagrees
A million bigots steeped in hate
A million sleepers woke too late
A million victims drowned in blood
Religious zealots wait for the flood
And here among you evil stirs
D’you sit there silent while this occurs?
You watch it spread, malignant curse
You keep your head down, but it gets worse
You can’t debate with evil men
That’s what it means: never again
You shut them out, you close the gate
If you indulge them, then it’s too late.

Electro-poetic ambience, strongly theatrical, salient. Thanks for sharing.
Solid scary stuff 🙌👍
0% AI, 100% Humanoid. Cool stuff

Yep!
Bold and very cool, love it! Haven't pegged you in the ambient column but it sounding really good.
Haunting, excellent. I'm curious what other Ambient works you're capable of, Richard.
Anti-fascism is a proud musical tradition:
The voiceover is perfect. The message is powerful.
I like the soundscape too. It’s a tense and foreboding backdrop to the spoken word.
I never knew synth master 2 could sound so good
Thanks for listening and commenting - much appreciated. I do sometimes dabble with ambient stuff, but usually with guitars.
Great stuff @richardyot
Synthmaster 2 is pretty good 😎
And thanks for the comment, I hope my words resonate more than some of the AI slop that gets posted as "poetry" these days 😅
Thanks! Means a lot.
Thank you for this. I definitely agree that it is in keeping with a long tradition of protest songs, and it does seem to come at a time that is appropriate (I’ll leave it there - there’s an obvious line that forum members should be able to figure out for themselves in terms of comments on posted music.).
Certainly nice to hear something presented outside the format of the typical acoustic guitar and vocal protest songs).
Great stuff Mr @richardyot
Censorship? Oh come on. This is a music forum.
The ban to which you’re alluding to is no different to going to your local pub and getting way too lairey every time you get drunk. After a few warnings you’ll be barred.
That isn’t censorship.
You’re still free to spew hatred, and chunks, outside. But you’re no longer welcome inside. Where the host has every right to set whatever rules they want.
And you’re welcome inside as long as you obey those rules.
After all. It’s a private establishment run by an unusually tolerant and accommodating host.
In most audio related forums run by developers you’d be banned for mentioning the competition. And rightly so if them’s the rules.
This is great, Richard.
Very nice work.
Thanks, I'm proud of the piece and I hope it did what I set out to achieve, artistically speaking.
@richardyot poetic dread. Love it. 👊
There is another point to the topic. The music is well done and I like it just like the anti ice track that was posted a few weeks back, that was aggressive and tasty. But when music and politics meld you invite discussions. Some of them are going to clash with your view point. It’s hard to separate them because politics is such a charged issue like religion or sex. The politics over shadow the music. But neum is still entitled to his opinion as long as its not hateful. I took what he said and self censored as an opinion , no different than the troll doll which I loved. That would be a cool key chain if I didn’t already have the rubber chicken. Yes I know it’s not the first time neum has said something that offended some one else and while I don’t agree with everything he says I do agree with his right to do so. Send me some more funny memes. They make laugh today and I need it. I’ll go back to my usual mo and shut up now until some one posts something about a cool app or an exciting new form of synthesis.
@SirMcp please debate this in Other as per mod request
Calling people who oppose fascism ‘Nazi’s’ is offensive, as well as factually incorrect.
C'mon folks. Lets give the mods a break (I've been challenging in the past from this point of view as well, i know... ) .
Post the tunes here. Comment on the tunes here. Debate politics in Other.
I apologize then. I didn’t know he called the composer a nazi. That’s not good. I just thought he was spouting off his conservative view point which I often find humorous but as misguided as anyone elses opinions on the matter. But calling the composer a nazi is no bueno.
I'm just going to post the final verse from track, because for me it gets to the heart of the matter. You can only debate people if they are arguing in good faith, otherwise it's just sophistry:
You can’t debate with evil men
That’s what it means: never again
You shut them out, you close the gate
If you indulge them, then it’s too late.
In case people don't get what I am saying: not everyone debates in good faith, some have a hidden agenda, and they're not really engaging in genuine debate.
None of us have a right to do so here though.
I’ve removed several posts from this thread (and a couple of replies) that were focused on political discussion rather than the music itself.
Political creations are absolutely allowed in Creations and Collaborations. However, discussion in this section needs to stay focused on the work; composition, production, intent, and artistic choices.
If you’d like to debate the real-world politics raised by the piece, please do so in the Other category. You’re welcome to start a thread there and link to it from here. What’s not allowed is continuing political debate directly in Creations and Collaborations.
This isn’t about suppressing viewpoints. It’s about keeping this section usable for its intended purpose: sharing and discussing music.
Please keep replies here focused on the creation itself.
Thanks.
@Michael agreed
Oh wow! That's gorgeous work!
EDIT: I'm surprised I wasn't subbed to you on Youtube yet. I remedied that.
