Anyone tell me what genre this is? : Pain Is A Violent Lover

I went with generic ‘electronic’. I feel I should be more specific, but the last time I paid attention to genres people were talking about a second summer of love. I think I can pretty definitively say it ISN’T Dark Ambient. Anyhoo, this is it:

As usual performed live into AUM, since I have pretty much given up any hope of AUM ever getting any kind of automation… Koala pretty heavily involved for the sample triggering.

    "Electronic" works well as the umbrella term, but it does have an "Industrial" feel to it. Regardless, what a great track you made!

    Ah, the same way I like to work in AUM. I hope someday @j_liljedahl will add automation into AUM, but there is a lot to be said about just "automating" live. It's more fun and direct.

    Ha ha I came here to say Dark Ambient before even hearing it....That was a funny thread...:-)

    Have you ever tried this for automation in AUM as AUM is unlikely to add it, pretty useful for more structured track in AUM.

  • Sounds like taking a brain scan of some malevolent being and feeding the image to ANS synthesizer. I’m sorry this doesn’t answer your question.

  • No answer to the genre question, but it’s in that one that I like 🙌

  • Conceptronica? Deconstructed? In places it sounds like it could fit with some of this stuff

  • When in doubt in SoundCloud I tend to use SoundTrack... But descriptively I'd go with a custom description like "Eastern European Paranoia" referencing secret police fears which we are adopting in the US this year.

  • I have absolutely no idea about genres most of the time unless they’re very obvious.

    I would guess this genre is Svetlovska. Sorry, best I can do. 😁

    As usual, something very different. I like the analogy of a brain scan - something pulling memories and music from someone’s brain and converting them to some obscure machine language chatter.

  • @Svetlovska you’re back! I just chanced on you as I am infrequently here. I hope everything is going well for you. All good here, my creative energy going to a new found partner.

    Still, at least one more album coming. Take care and keep going!

  • A AUM jam genre, nothing wrong with that.

  • Beautiful. That covers it.

  • Hi all, and thank you for your comments and suggestions.

    @deadpoetlive : yes, I tried it. Thanks for the suggestion, but too structured for me. All I have ever (repeatedly, uselessly ) requested of @j_liljedahl is an (optional, even in-app purchasable) in-AUM per channel extension in capability, just to automate/edit mutes, pans and fades, so it can grow or shrink with the addition or subtraction of channels, which is how I tend to work, adding or removing channels as I go. Ah well…

    @jwmmakerofmusic : fair point, well made!
    @Blipsford_Baubie : uh yeah… ‘brainscanmalevolentbeingcore’. I could get down with that :)
    @Krupa : hello, and thank you!
    @Philandering_Bastard : another brain scan reference, huh? MRIcore has a certain ring to it.
    @squeals : ‘conceptronica’ is pretty cool too!
    @McD : Yes, maybe Melania was feeling nostalgic for the old country, persuaded hubbie to bring some of the vibe to the new country.
    @michael_m : and a third vote for brain scans! Something afoot here.
    @LinearLineman : Hi, just visiting. Congrats on your new partner. Be well and loved :)
    @Delinquent : Well, there’s no arguing with that. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
    @sevenape : Aaaw! Blushing now… :)

    I’m off to add tags for the various brain scan suggestions. Thanks all!

  • Svetlovska speaks! That's two wonderful things to have happened in this forum in as many days. Praise be haha!

    Lol, that'll be interesting. ☺️ Have fun, friend.
