Guitar players - E-bow question
Some of you guitar guys on here @wim @espiegel123 @Ailerom @pbelgium @flo @richardyot
Is it worth it to get an e-bow or does something else come close on iOS?

Comments
Get the eBow ll, it has a harmonic switch, there is nothing else like it anywhere in the world 👍
I have attached a Dropbox link to my cover of the Supernatural by the late Peter Green when he was part of the John Mayall Blues Brakers, I made the backing arrangement in Cubase.https://dropbox.com/scl/fi/e8997yibbz5abw3qavi1t/SUPERNATURAL.zip?rlkey=tx8h4vphwovirxiw9080vm8p5&st=lbxrlntl&dl=0

IMO the E-bow is a sound all of its own, I highly recommend it.
I used an E-Bow to play the solo at the end of this track:
Is the eBow II also called the EBow plus?
Yes
Did you use the standard sustain or the harmonic? I could just about hear it. That was a nice soothing song, you have a distinct sound, very polished.
Mike
Get a volume pedal to use with the Ebow. It will open it up and allow you to be more expressive.
There isn’t any sort of plugin or pedal that approaches the expressive possibilities of an eBow, imo. It interacts physically with the guitar and small differences in position can have a significant impact on the tone.
I'm pretty sure I used the harmonic setting. The E-bow should be easy to hear, it's the slightly chaotic solo at the end of the song.
If you’re looking for an app - Bleass Samplewiz has a few e-bow presets in one of the expansion packs. I use them sometimes - not quite the real thing but I like.
Yeah ebow is great, either that or just a bow ✊
The eBow is considerably more expensive than a app, I paid £94 for mine back in 2011
How about this bow:

I'm yet to come across anything that sounds like or has the same tactile experience as an ebow. If you like that sound I'd say you have to get an ebow.
There is nothing in your post, but if I tap randomly the player comes into view, just going to have another listen…….
Ah…. I could hear it this time, I can hear you have the eBow switched to harmonics 👍
The Joyo Infinite Sustainer is an alternative.. it does exactly what I need it to do..

Wow, I must have got lucky, £35 I think in 2009, second hand private seller in Brighton
Get an e-bow, no app comes close.
I don’t regret spending that amount, it’s pure pleasure using it as you already know 👌
Yes, there it is, it sounds no different to my eBow 👍
An E-bow can be a little underwhelming when you first get one, but once you experiment and practice you realize there’s nothing that emulates it well.
I have found that certain guitars work better with it than others, and each guitar reacts better with a certain pickup, or amount of gain.
What really improves things though is getting to know positioning, and making seamless string transitions.
I say just buy one as you’ll spend a long time chasing that sound without ever getting there if you look for alternatives.
Thanks all! You’ve convinced me!
I have had one, many years ago.
Great tool.
Go buy one😉.

Have a look at this guy using a Pickaso Guitar bow, he is amazing:

Yes, get one. Or record your guitar played forwards so that it sounds how you want it to when played backwards.
Got my Joyo, ordered from Thomann, today. Not only is it almost half the price compared to eBow II, two(2) 9V batteries were included. Quite rare you get batteries and even rarer to get an extra, Generous!
Anyway, using it was a lot harder than I expected but loads of fun so far. 😊
Not sure what the battery drain on the other models is like but my eBow ll can last for months between battery change, I don’t use it all the time but I can be sure it won’t die on my when using it, the blue LED is a good indicator.
I was just surprised the batteries were included, that's pretty rare these days. I'm sure drainage is about the same on this model. The manual states you should remove the battery if you'r not going to use it for a longer time.
Good tip. I just fired mine up after it sat for about a year and the battery was dead. I’m pretty sure I just changed it last time because the battery was dead then too.
