  • Good to see you back. Since last seeing you post I:

Packed all my shit into boxes and there it’s stayed for the last year.

Quit a job, got a new job. Quit that job. Got a new job.

Got frustrated with ‘iOS only’ and bought a cheap linux box. Never used linux before. Steep OS Learning curve. Slowly familiarising with Ardour.

Got sonobus working thanks to the AB wiki entry (thanks @espiegel123!)(https://abwiki.loopypro.com/doku.php?id=sonobus)

Sure, we never talked much, I get that. Positive vibes, good to see you return.

    We’re doing!

Personally speaking, I’ve still been spending nearly all of my free time (which isn’t much after working all these double shifts every week!) playing with that top-secret feature of the Drambo beta, and I’m completely hooked. See the beta section over on the Beepstreet forums.

Other than that, I do still check in over here for any new or interesting AUV3s that might have come out, or to see or hear what’s new from some of my favorite artists and musicians like @LinearLineman and @GeoTony

    How ‘bout you?

    Likewise

Packed all my shit into boxes and there it’s stayed for the last year.

I didn't quite do that but I'm going to give the short story in a minute.

Quit a job, got a new job. Quit that job. Got a new job.

    Wow, that's rapid.
A question,... are you happier because I only quit jobs to make myself happy.

    Got frustrated with ‘iOS only’

Yeah, iOS is wonderful however it does have it's limitations for sure.
Combining it with other "insert platforms and G.A.S certainly helps" ;)

Long story short last year I was standing outside a bar restaurant
noticed it had sign saying live music so I asked would you mind if I put on night.
The first night they offered was my birthday date so I took it.
A coupe of weeks later before the first gig I was grumpily walking along to get some guitar strings,
grumpy because I broke a guitar string whilst practicing and because the weather
was miserable, not raining, miserable and on route I noticed
another sign outside another venue saying live music.
I walked in there and asked them the same thing.
That second venue lasted for seven months and was shut down at the beginning of the year.
That was a weekly residency for my improv band, I helped establish a consistent weekly programme of events
and became the in house Artist in Residency and all round sound engineer and co-managed the venue
until it shut down the first week of Jan.
On route purchased a pair of Alto TS415's 2.5kW speakers, an X32 rack,
a drumkit and a digital piano for my band which is now back in my home.
Since Jan I've rebuilt my music room, integrated the aforemtioned gear except the P.A speakers
and wrote 170 haiku's to go along with the 69 haikus I wrote last Summer
and I'm now knee deep in three album projects and about
to hard launch my management company in a couple of months
"Voyager Creative, a management company for Creatives by a Creative".
    I'm back for a "pitstop" ;)

    @Edward_Alexander

I noticed the "what we cannot mention" and wow, things are looking good. ;)
I'm going to eventually put the full story of my escapades over in my thread on Beepstreet. :)

    @LinearLineman @GeoTony
Hope you guys are doing well. :)

  • Hey mate. :) Long time no see. Glad to see you back around here. I was wondering what happened to you.

After 7yrs putting fairly complex kit into meat factories I came to this conclusion:

    Technical challenge ✅
    Soul-crushing workplace ❌

6 months doing 🤷🏻 and drinking ☕️ in a workshop somehwere… I decided to go back out on the road to build things again (not in the meat industry).

Yeah, I reckon measurably higher scores on the happy-o-meter are evident 😃

Voyager Creative: please do explain a little more?

  • Good to have you back , sounds like you have had an interesting and challenging few months 🤔

@Edward_Alexander is being very kind 🙏

I’m a great believer in grinding the listener down with lots of postings, sheer bloody mindedness in the face of adversity and not being to bothered about the perfect creation so that eventually people start to think you are actually a good musician.
In reality many of you good people are far better than me, it’s just that YOU DON’T POST !

… that last bit was me shouting 😊

  • Ish! Most if not all your MDBBeatingDrm tracks are on a private SC playlist of mine whenever the mood strikes me to hear some riddims. Good to hear from you.

See above and then some. :)

Sounds very much like a good move on your part.

    Awesome.

Voyager Creative: please do explain a little more?

Whilst doing all the above, many of the Artists whom
I was promoting and sound engineering for started
asking me if I was an Artist manager and if I could manage them,
I have history with the music industry (stories not for the sensitive including myself)
I was giving them advice I would give myself so I decided to create a management company
to look after and protect the interests of the Artists that I will be managing.
We're getting rinsed out there from Spotify to venues and there's strength in numbers.
I'll be putting up the blurb soon enough. ;)

Oh for sure and I've been having fun with that challenge.
The schedule was crazy good and I walked out of there a much, much happier man.

Hhhhm I think I detect a hint of something there.
I wonder what that hint is...

… that last bit was me shouting 😊

Wiggling my ear just to check if I still have an ear drum left. ;)

Dude, glad to hear someone is listening to those riddems.
They're still some of my favourite ones to.
Good to hear from you also.
