FX Disable not instant - few seconds of waiting & blinking buttons - ?

edited February 21 in Loopy Pro

Making progress with my template , but another issue appears.

On my widget mixer page I have set up a button to toggle an FX Device - Enable/Disable ,
for Dub - like quick fx changes ;
I want to drop in a delay , let it build up feedback then turn it off ..instantly I had hoped !

but many times when I try to turn the device off it remains with the fx sounding ,
with both the widget button & the FX Device ON button blinking for a few seconds,
& unusably long in a live performance before it turns off .
This has happened on more than one fx in testing .

Is this deliberate ? …something to do with audiothresholds ?
i did have IDLE function on but repeats behaviour with IDLE off .

edit - I should mention there is similar behaviour when turning off the button on the FX Device itself,
so I don’t think it is a binding issue (which is set to Immediate btw )

I need it to be controllable & predictably instant , is there a setting I have missed .

sending private video to @espiegel123 showing issue ,
video shows drum loop , delay device turned on, then off ..but few seconds blinking button before
fx actually turns off .

hoping he can once again help ,
with thanks in advance .

  • @RetroNewb : when you turn off an effect, Loopy waits until the effect’s buffer is empty to cut off the sound…so that tails don’t get cut off. If you turn it off while the buffer is emptying, it will turn off immediately. Note that if you do that, many reverbs and delays will play the buffer when you turn them back on (which is out of Loopy’s control).

If you are using actions, put two disable effect actions in a row for an immediate off. If doing it manually, tap twice.

  • @espiegel123 aha .. thanks , will try that .

  • If you need instantaneous shut off of FX without those side effects, you can put the effect on a bus, then mute the bus and disable the FX. If you have the mute action followed by the disable on a button, and you set the button's feedback to first action, the button should go on immediately, the FX sound will stop, and the FX itself will disable when its buffer is empty.

I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for though.
