Loopy Pro as the clock master in AUM problem
I have a simple problem: I have Loopy Pro as an AUV in AUM. I want Loopy to control the tempo and have AUM Sync to loopy. Ableton Link is on and the 'act as master' setting for loopy pro is on.
I load this set up. (it is a preset in AUM). First time after loading, when I record a clip in Loopy and press play, AUM does not sync sometimes. When I then clear the clip and record a new clip, AUM does sync and it will keep syncing to new recordings as long as I do not reload the setup/preset.
When I reload this setup. The same thing happens. Not always but quite often.
My work around is to press play first after loading this setup in AUM and press stop and only then start recording in loopy. Then it works as it should. Again till I reload that setup.
I have included an AUM preset with this setup. What is happening?
Thanks
Marc

Can you post a link to a screen recording that demonstrates the issue.
Hi Edward,
here it is: https://dropbox.com/scl/fi/9v40sxz12qna9m9rbjz5m/ScreenRecording_02-26-2026-16-52-25_1.MOV?rlkey=5na7g5clozra26rsu2rjtfjv4&st=lw3agm8f&dl=0
The first time AUM syncs to the loopy recording. Then I reload the preset. After that recording AUM does not sync. I then erase the clip and record again and then AUM does sync.
@gitaar0 : I am not seeing that behavior with your project

Hi Edward, thanks. I do not see it in your screenrecording.
maybe there are ableton link settings, that are different in yours vs mine?
Would it make sences to compare those.
I have no clue why it works reliably for you and does not for me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Marc
Here are the loopy AU ableton settings
The AUM settings:
Try powering down with “slide to power off “ disconnecting all connected hardware and powering up.
I have these exact same settings. Did the slide to power of etc suggestion. First time I loaded the preset AUM synced right away. After reloading the preset AUM did not sync after the firts recording. After deleting the recording and recording again it did sync. So it still behaves the same. Anything else I can try?
Thanks,
Marc
I have tried it on another ipad with a new install of Loopy pro and it does behave the same
What OS version?
What AUM version?
How were you triggering recording? I used touch.
You tried with no hardware connected?
No Bluetooth?
Is network midi off in loopy pro’s system settings?
If you haven’t performed another standalone app running that had link running how does it behave?
Note that most link apps will take a measure after Loopy’s transport starts before they start.
@gitaar0 : I took another look at your video. It looks like your problem case involves opening an AUM project while the transport is running. If you stop AUM's transport, you won't have this problem. It isn't obvious that this is a Loopy issue.
You might see if adding toggle ableton actions to turn it off and back on in loopy's load project makes a difference if you need to open the project while AUM's transport is running.
Tried that and yes that makes a difference. I will have to try more to see if that is it.
Thanks!
I will have to dive in this to see what I need.
Maybe not necessary any more but nevertheless:
18.7.2
The latest
In all example touch but with a midi pedal it is the same
Yes, the examples I send where without hardware
Bluetooth is on but not used
Yes
The only standalone app is borderland and i do not have it running sync so I am not aware of that.
I am aware of that.
Thanks,
Marc

I tried many times. The only times I saw the behavior was when the AUM transport was running and a new AUM project was opened. I don’t think it is a Loopy issue. The act as master setting doesn’t matter.
It looks like the issue may be that AUM’s clock was running when a new project was opened . That stops its clock but AUM’s internals may not have updated that and as a result it ignores the ableton start command because it thinks it is started . When a stop happens, it is ready to start.
The same happens if an external app running ableton starts when Aum is in that state.
