  • I don’t care for the synth side but the pattern generator is good for quick ideas.

Mifi Fx version and easy remap of the sequencer output notes please!

Mapping sequencer output notes is easy! Go to the settings menu and change the base note for the sequencer.> @MJKLZ said:

I think you have a good point. I was on the beta and it's great but I still do have some points.

I do like the kick a lot and the fm is great for baselines and so on. Some sounds are useful but it is still a bit too limited for a real drum synth imho. It still needs work to become deep and powerful.

The real power of this app is the sequencer, it's quick and you can work out ideas fast!

    • I wish it had at least had a 32 step option (or more!). 16 Steps is meh.
    • Slight automatic randomisation so things would evolve all the time in a subtile (or chaotic) way.
    • Randomisation per lane instead of the whole pattern.
    • Randomisation per pattern instead of all the patterns.
    • Copy/Paste between patterns is a must have!
    • Something like a song mode. I know this supposed to be more manual hopping between patterns, but manual should be more like an option. So manual and song mode possibilities.

      :)

Mapping sequencer output notes is easy! Go to the settings menu and change the base note for the sequencer.

But the other notes just follow chromatically? I’d like to map for different apps.

I use logic mostly and re-routing midi isn’t great, and seemingly will only play on the destination track if it’s selected (this could be a “me” issue though)…. But a midifx version would be ideal… I appreciate the app though but I doubt I’ll get much use unless I can use the sequencer to drive other apps easily.

    Bug (?)
Timing of the sequencer seems completely off. A four on the floor kick mixed with a flour on the floor kick made with Drambo’s sequencer or Ocatchron resulting in a major off beat. If I want to match the Breakbud kick with Drambo/Octachron I have to set the kick in Breakbud on the fourth step.

-And the randomizer does not set steps for the FM synth.

Yes, I can add individual MIDI note settings per sequencer row 👍

  • Appreciated @cem_olcay

  • The new version is out! It adds the copy/paste button to the bottom toolbar.

    • The button presents copy and paste options.
    • Copies the currently selected pad,
    • Select another pad and select the paste option.

@cem_olcay is this a bug or by design: I notice that it’s not possible to trigger several drum sounds at the same time: There seems to be a kind of “top down approach”. When the same step on multiple drum tracks triggers, only the drum highest in the list sounds. E.g Kick overrides all other sounds; Snare kills CL, OP, Rim and FM; OP overrides Rim and FM and so on. I would expect this kind of choking only for hats.
Enabling or disabling side chain has no effect.

It's a bug, I messed up on the last update. Fixed in the new version and it's currently waiting for the apple review. Will be live soon. It's gonna fix other sequencer related sync and MIDI issues + adds the individual MIDI mapping for the sequencer out!

Update just came through - fixed! Thanks a lot.

  • Sync issues solved.

    Yes! Thank you Cem.

  • @cem_olcay Are there plans for a fill mode? The generator is really useful, but it would be nice to buffer the pre-regenerated state and return to it, perhaps with a toggle. In the absence of that, my inclination is to capture pattern versions in octachron frames, the pattern-morphing of which I like less.

I can adjust the generator to do more fills and rolls.

  • Really enjoying this as an alternative to tekno.
I like the variety of drum patterns you can chain, and the drum voices modulate well.

Well, I mean a thing where the groove runs, then does a regen, then goes back to the original. It could either be an actual parameter (run 3 times, do the fill, then get back to what you were doing), or it could be a trigger (keep running until the trigger comes in, do the regen, get back to original)

Something like that. Is that what you mean?

Could always use Cems other app Auto Fills. I believe it does exactly what you’re lookin for.

I have used it, and it's not nearly as musically useful as what this is doing, in my opinion.

I think both of them are pretty good and I'm pushing new versions as well. <3

  • I realized I was still on the beta.. :# Just bought! With some extra fx behind it (Frettkraft/FAC Punchlab) you can really make the synth shine. Again, great quick sequencer, very useful for midi out.

One thing that kind of annoys me is that when using the velocity the % in shown below the step, and that is exactly the place where your finger is.. It would be better if it was above, or.. visualized like a slider maybe? Just a thought.

I've managed to hook BreakBud to my HUE lights lol
The AUv3 FX app is an 8-band analyzer, mapping the band data (colors) to the lights.
It can also map the MIDI notes to the lights as well.

It works with any audio/midi app/auv3 btw, if anyone interested I can send a beta version.
Only the Philips HUE lights are supported for now.

  • I'm testing the ratchets and I can't wait to release, it's bonkers I can't believe it 🔥
I'll release the new beta version soon.

  • Ratchets update beta version is out, will be live on the app store soon.
It’s super fun, check it out

  • The new version is live!

  • @cem_olcay The strum control MIDI input doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm patching step controls from a sequencer, or from MIDI LFO, and even when "learned", it's not actually hitting that strum slider.

You probably meant HouseBud not BreakBud
I released a new version, it should fix the AU parameter control issue for the MIDI effects 👍
