Other Harry Gohs apps to check out: Poseidon synth, bark filter. Two very special and beautiful apps without comparison

I really like AudioReverb a lot as well.

It doesn't work (act like muted) for me in Loopy Pro (iPadOS 26.2)

Just checked on my end, working fine in loopy but I’m on an older iPad running 17.7.10 os 🤷🏻‍♂️

    New Release

Snorkel Synth is new and currently $2.99, patterns, arps, chords, drums, with deep randomization, built in synth. This sounds really interesting but doesn’t mention any connectivity or exporting.

Update just discovered this is an AUv3 app! Not sure in what capacity but gbrrrl on AppRaven is loving it.

Snorkel synth manual and home page available on desktop too.

The manual makes it sound like it’s both an audio au and a midi au.

Bought it and struggling to get it to work in AUM.

I contacted the dev, and he said the secret is to hit Play in AUM, then send a MIDI note. The app runs with the output transposed to the input note. An update with more rational options is on the way

Thanks. On the face of it, it looks promising and for the money, offers a lot. It just doesn’t appear to function how you would expect it to. I hope the dev does update it as it could be good

    AUv3 Freebies from Matthew Caldwell:

Osculatrix is a tremolo with ideas above its station. With modulated filters, delays, a bit of saturation. Like its predecessors, it is cryptic and opinionated, and it goes from subtle colouration to total destruction at the twist of a knob.
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/osculatrix/id1046389107

FrobulatorAU is a spectral delay effect. It makes your noises a little bit stranger. Twiddle the knobs to find something you like, or don't and throw it away.

No way! This developer has been around awhile with some old school IAA FX I used to use early on in my iOS music days.

Frobulator is a pack of 3 AU’s the same ones that were iaa. Cool.

    Great catch!

How does it compare to Bleass compressor? Bleass is 1/2 the price of medusa

I’m no compressor expert either, but Bleass Compressor is a very easy to use bread and butter compressor. FAC Medusa excels at toneshaping, experimental stuff, sound design etc. It has a fair few tricks up its sleeve that Bleass Comp doesn’t, like multi-channel processing, multi-out etc.

I gotta say, I hate the Bleass compressor doesn't tell you how many dBs you're compressing.

I’m definitely not a compression expert, but you’re referring to something other than the threshold correct?

Yeah the gain reduction meter is visual only. Which to be honest is fine because it forces you to use your ears rather than looking at numbers.

True, the visual output meter is there, but it’s not labeled, I understand now. I wanted to make sure I knew what you meant. Cheers.

Are there any particular gems in here? I’ve got Pot O Gold already but from what I remember it felt a bit “Jack of all trades, master of none”.

The more I’ve used amp and pedal sims they all start to bleed together. Honestly most of them still feel a bit on the sterile side. Pedal fx on iOS have come a long ways from distortions sounding like Velcro when running first into a headphone jack irig, but rarely is the playability as nuanced as a real pedal. I get a lot more use out of iOS fx that aren’t trying to replicate pedals. FAC effects come to mind.

This collection was one of my first purchases when I got my iPad, and it was great to have all the basis covered early on. But like you said, I’ve slowly found other auv3s that fit the bill and imo are of better quality. But I definitely still reach for certain pedals like the Mutron and univibe emulations. Might be because I’ve never found proper replacements for them? Not sure. The amp and cab sims are also quite light on CPU so I’ll often revisit them when I don’t have the dsp to run something like NAMXT without getting the audio cricks n crackles.

How does it compare with Tonebridge? I’m strongly considering picking this up as the guitars in GarageBand sounded like baked ass (we have a guitarist but sometimes I’ll have an idea that doesn’t quite fit his style ) but if there’s not the big of an upgrade I’ll pass

All the one-size-fits-all stomp effect apps tend to have pretty standard amps across the board. Tonebridge is the same IMO. If you’re playing a bunch of classic rock they’ll do. If you want

Now that you mention it, Tonestack didn’t feel like much of a step up from GarageBand. With the base app + pot o gold at $25 you’d be better off grabbing some IR packs and jAmp IR if you’re looking for amps.

Agreed, imo there’s many better options out there now to choose from. Another route would be NAM XT and perusing tonehunt3000 site for community made amps and cab captures. It’s a tad overwhelming at first but you can sort by Popular for all the good stuff and then Trending to find good recent posts. Bonus that they’re all free

I'm not a guitarist but I really wanted a bunch of petal type effects for putting on synths and Tonestack had by far the best/fastest/cleanest interface of any I tried. I don't use it much but when I do I do find it fast and quite fun to setup and edit quite elaborate pedal chains. I believe every effect is true stereo too.

Worth checking out BYOD as well... You can use any Proteus Amp captures in the Guitar ML module and I seem to remember that it's less CPU than NAM. Download the zip of all the free captures here https://guitarml.com/tonelibrary/tonelib-pro.html Don't forget to turn OS off...
