  • Oooh... insta-update...

  • Yup. Except I'm on the haul up to Belfast to eat lunch at the world's best restaurant (personal opinion) and it takes ages so I look forward to reading about the crest of excitement/outage later on....all this along with Sector and AudioStretch updates too....good stuff (hopefully :)

  • Huh.... sector update???

    I'm on it.

  • My guess is 'next' figure update will have alternate arpeggio-modes and sooner or later we'll also get a simple grid-editor to correct some miss-placed notes when recording live. Really digging the multitude of patterns that can be created with rhythm and tie settings :)

  • I never got how the 'tie' settings worked...

    • Liking the new sounds-- as always.
    • Meh, on the new arpeggiator...so far
    • Not even going to address the "sharing"

    :-)

  • Figure remains my absolute favorite IOS app. It could be that I've come to the realization that I'm not, and may never become, a real musician and Figure lets me create music that actually sounds good.

Some sort of configurator would be nice.

    That would be cheating. :-D

It gives the pattern a legato, or slurred sound.

  • Was excited to see a 2.0 update. For as amateur as I am at just sketching things out and messing around with my phone when I have a spare 15 minutes or so, I was reminded that Figure really is an app I should be using more. And the quality of the sounds is top notch.

How the heck does the arpeggiator work? I found a switch to turn it on, but how does the interplay with the note grid work?

  • downloading update now...

Hold down more than one note and it will cycle between them using the selected rhythm.

  • more tracks and chords. My only wish :P

Jeez. The basslines though. Weren't we just talking about instruments? Or the iPad as an instrument. I'm pretty cack-handed but lay five or six fingers on this thing and it follows you around beautifully. Someone here is going to make hot shit with this. [viz the new arp]

Spent a little more time with the arp and I think I'm coming around to it; super simple, but there is some cool stuff to be had with it.

  • Love Figure but would really like to see they add Landscape mode for us iPAD users

More tracks would be a welcome update and the ability to load what you want on the tracks

Just record into Loopy (or other multitrack) via audiobus - or export loops - and you've got more tracks. But yeah - 16 bars and another track or 2 inside Figure would be sweet ! But all in all a great app! Hard not to love for what it is/does.

Sounds a lot like the intitial reaction many of us had to Figure itself.

  • No landscape mode?! Bah!

  • Always happy to see this app expanded and sounds added. It's my favourite music app that I can use while walking my dog, tied with ikaossilator. I've been pasting the loops in to ikaossilator or BM2 to form them more in to a song.

  • It would be nice to see polyphony at some point.

  • Fun. Arp is nice, but now I want a lead to go over the arp/bass/drums ;-b

  • I like Figure, but don't really use it as it feels a bit like cheating.

    yup.

    more midi less social media.

Well put! Figure + midi out would be amazingly useful and fun...

  • i think I missed the last update of Figure - but can you still Audiocopy your loops out of Figure? Or did they take that away and you have to use the props sharing community thingy?

Even if they worked out a way to insist that the only target available was Thor. Actually, why not just add Figure as an interface to the Thor app directly and charge for an IAP? Pretty sure every single owner of Thor would be in the shut-up-and-take-my-money camp.

  • You can still Audiocopy but it's in an odd place. Save your song then go to the browse menu (like where you load a new song) then select your song and an export icon will appear, Audiocopy is one of the export options.

This irritated me considerably at first blush, and I presumed in my normal paranoid manner, dark and cynical reasons for their choice, but have come to like where they put the export/copy option. It makes it quick to browse/choose/copy a bunch of iterations when snaffling loops out for pasting elsewhere which is my preferred use of Figure....
