foot switch triggers play next/previous clip in group
I’m trying to figure out how to setup a midi foot switch, so that one button on the foots switch moves forward through the play group/colour group, and another button moved backwards through the group.
Ive tried it in global settings and project settings but cant figure it out. It too complicated for me.
Can anyone guide me how to do this please?

The key concept you'll need to build on is Selected Clip. That serves as the anchor point for additional actions.
I suggest starting from the default template to avoid cluttering up an existing project until you've got the basics down. Try opening
Settings > Control Settings > Project Profiles > Default. ThenAdd New Binding > Clip Actions > Select. Keep the default ofNext Clip, but note the other options for later. Now go back to the Binding screen. When no clip is selected, this will select the first clip on the page. When one is selected, it'll move the selection to the next clip in right to left, top to bottom order.
Now set the Trigger. Pick your Foot Switch from the device list. Now you can tap
Learnand tap the button you want to use on the foot switch. If all goes well, you should see the Note or CC the foot switch sends, andOnas the trigger. If not, then some manual adjustment will be needed.Previous is the same, but with
Previous Clipand the other foot switch button. That doesn't address everything, of course, because you also want to move within specific groups and colors, but it might be best to be sure that's understood and working first.
@deano: you will probably want to arrange your clips on the page to take advantage of the selection target options as next in color or next in group aren’t options.
You can use stepped dials to create custom select orders.
You may also want to start by doing the same basic idea, but with on-screen buttons. In that case, you would make two on screen button widgets, and add the select actions to the buttons rather than going through the Control Settings > Profile route.
Sometimes it's easier to set up widgets and get them working right, then bind your foot switch to trigger those widgets to do the work.
I started with the Control Settings method because I think you may need to use Profiles to do everything you want to do. But in retrospect, it may have been better to start with widgets while figuring things out.
@espiegel123 will probably be along with pointers to useful wiki articles, sample projects, or videos, plus better help than I can give, but I thought I'd offer something you can try in the meantime.
Thank everyone for your suggestions. I've now moved to sequencing everything as it was getting too complicated with my ability to trigger with a foot switch.
