A walk in the Dark (Park): Sonder
Sonder (neologism) The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, includiing strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it.
I was initially worried this app was going to be expensive, since it’s subject matter and mode of operation (dark noises, randomly arrived at) are so much up my alley. Fortunately, it isn’t. @lewisleval has crafted something special here. Can’t seem currently to tweak the exposed parameters automagically with MIDIlfos, which is a shame, but hey, I can live with that. I think it is good, for serendipitous ambient textures and drones. I deliberately went sonically nasty here, a little experiment in glitch and distortion. think I’m going to be walking in that park a lot..
One instance, a little light additional Koala action, performed and mixed live in AUM.

I love this! Well done, my friend. Glad you took a chance on Dark Park too. It's so much fun to use!
Loved it as well. Thanks as always for the inspiring workouts you give these apps.... so helpful in seeing their potential for dark forays. Do you play live? I wish you did.... I like the idea of you dazzling some folks at some noise night somewhere. Or hey.... bring your iPad to an open mic night and leave the crowds bewildered
I like it
Well, you made me go buy Dark Park even though I was sceptical of it...
Thanks all for the listens and your kind words. :j
Yes, I have grappled with the idea of presenting my noises live in some way. Problem is, each one is a one off arrived at by random and slow, unrepeatable processes. (I don’t imagine anyone would find it entertaining watching me faff about for a period of hours!) And equally, there could never be a ‘playing the (ahem) hits’ either, since each piece only ever exists that one time as it is captured into AUM, and I could never redo them. (Hey - it’s jazz. Sort of
)
There could be a half way house, perhaps. I have thought about preparing a dozen or so complementary channels of my noises, and sort-of djing a live mixing session of these, augmented with live fx manipulation. That could work, as a separate performance thing, maybe. If there was a suitable occasion. I do also occasionally toy with the idea of doing something with prepared video and an lcd projector to complement the noises. So… never say never, I guess!
