NEW Bristol Manor album drop!
Hey everyone - happy to post my latest Bristol Manor album release - One Foot In The Haze.
As usual, all made on iPad (nano studio 2) with a bunch of apps. I used to finalize my tracks in Adobe Audition, but no longer have access so I had to do it all on the master in NS2 this time... but I think it turned out swell.
love to hear everyone's thoughts - or happy to answer any questions about what apps used in tracks.

(coming to streaming sites in a week or two - taking longer than usual for some reason...)

Congrats! I'll check it out ASAP.
it wouldn't be an album release without a comment from you! looking forward to hearing your thoughts...
I've just listened through to the whole album, and I love all the atmospheres, the textures, and the sounds.
Will come back with some more specific feedback once I've listened to it a couple more times. This is definitely music that needs repeated listening.
Congrats of the release @Halftone !
I just did a quick skim through to get a feel of what these tracks sound like, and they sound great! No time right now, but will give an honest listen later.
First impressions, from skimming through and starting each track, they all have a similar sound (same synth, same drum sounds ?) which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just something I noticed.
I landed on the last track “All part of the game” which sounds amazing! I let this one play all the way through, and I love the wah wah (band pass filter) funk sound and groove.
Thanks for the listen & comments. Glad you like the last track - that one’s my least favourite on the album & almost didn’t include it. I did use a wide variety of synths & drums (some drum loops, OneShot, Digistix, Hammerhead, Slate) - so I’d be interested to see if you feel they have similar sounds after listening to the whole album. I definitely do love electric piano type sounds & use often.
I've listened through again, some thoughts:
Bend In the Road: the bass is great, love the distorted sound, and the way the melodic elements weave around it is fab.
Slow Burn, that eastern sounding lead line is incredible.
Love the slide guitars in Slipping Away. And the lead synth as well. Great melodies and haunting sounds. Such a great uses of space: every element adds something to the composition and there is nothing unnecessary.
Turn Things Around: the slight dissonance of the bright lead synth that comes in between the piano sections is delicious.
Chemical Bonds: love the timbre of the bass synth, and the electric piano.
Missing Link: the ethnic instrument makes a great, and unexpected, juxtaposition with the synths
The album has a cohesive sound and a consistent vibe all the way through, the music is always engaging and there are lots of great bass lines and melodies throughout. I love how multiple lead instruments often interweave and play contrasting melodies.
Congratulations on another great release, @Halftone
Extremely cohesive work in terms of composition, arrangements and production.
As the others mentioned, lots of great big juicy bass lines all along.
I found the work on drums impressive, more specifically the snares, especially on the first 7 tracks where they sound similar enough to give a sense of consistency in sound but with different flavour to give each track a very unique feel and without leaving the impression of repetition. That's one of the most difficult things to achieve and you did it superbly.
Incredible atmospheres and sound textures all along. The album flows nicely from beginning to end.
As a lover of the trip hop, especially Massive Attack (it is hard not to draw comparison, sorry if you heard this many times before :person_bowing:...), My only comment would be that, with such a level of mastery of the style you reached, I'd expect some trippy and eery vocals on some tracks to take the experiment to an even higher level.
Anyway, as usual, a pleasure to listen to your sound!
Thanks so much @richardyot and @JanKun - Appreciate the thoughtful comments. I will strongly consider trying some vocals in the future as I’ve heard that comment before a few times.
Have been listening to 2 or 3 tracks each day for the last few days…
Can only echo what others have said, lovely album, great consistency of feel and sounds.
Drums and bass outstanding and some haunting melodies.
Favourites possibly The Missing Link and Slipping Away but hard to call as all excellent 👌
Ah - Thanks @GeoTony !! Appreciate your comments & listens!!
I’m quite thrilled right as the album hit #1 on my local university radio station last week and has had a few plays on some other college/university stations across Canada.
