JWM - Back Off (Instrumental Metal in Gadget?!)

Man, if you would've told me a year or so ago I'd produce straight Metal in Gadget, I'd have called you insane. But the Osaka drum gadget is really great. Santa Ana still is great for backing guitars. Now "Pure Guitar Magic" is great for mimicking electric guitars.

(Of course nothing will ever top a real recorded electric guitar, but I'm not a guitarist suffice it to say. I'm a pianist.)

Anyways, I did plan to write lyrics for this one, but I'm infinitely better at creating instrumentals than writing my own songs. My lyric writing abilities are rather mid at best. 😂

So all that said, please do enjoy this instrumental.

Thanks kindly, mate. :) Gadget really is capable of nearly any genre, except true asynchronous Ambient. But that's why I have Koala for that. ☺️

  • It sounds good. Great use of that guitar expansion. Have you used any of the sounds in strummerfx? Good stuff!

I really dig the Osaka and Gladstone gadgets for rock.

Thanks mate. :) Yeah, I don't know I've ever heard of StrummerFX, so probably not, lol. I used Santa Ana for the rhythmic backing guitars and the new "Pure Guitar Magic" in Glasgow for the lead guitar. :)

Me too, mate. Gladstone was my main source of "acoustic" drums in Gadget before Korg put Osaka in there. Osaka has round robin samples whereas Gladstone does not. However, Gladstone is still an awesome gadget in its own right. Unlike Osaka, Gladstone allows the producer to chose which samples go on which pads. As far as I know (I haven't really done a deep dive into Osaka yet), Osaka isn't as customizable as Gladstone.

But the best thing is, both are easy to use as are all the gadgets.
