Years ago I did a sort of 'how to' do ambient tape loops in koala... today I made the update!

By far my most watched video was an amateur attempt at explaining how to do drones and ambient in Koala just using asynchronous loops, since then Koala has changed and people wree asking for an update, so here it is... sort of!

This video is shonky by anyone's standards, I'm no youtuber, but maybe someone will find it useful in getting a kind of nostalgic smeary tape sound out of Koala. It's by no means a deep dive or anything like that, just a quick dirty look into how I make things in Koala.

sorry in advance!

  • I remember the original video, thanks for posting this update!

  • Can't wait to dig into this video, @sevenape ! Your original video was why I started to use Koala for Ambient in the first place. @rottencat @Pierre118

  • Loved the first video, it inspired me to get koala! I don’t use samplers much… but when I do… this is how I like to!
    Gonna enjoy this.
    Thanks!

  • Added this to watch later tonight. I enjoyed watching the first one. Need to sit down with a cocktail and my iPad and follow along. :)

No sorrys needed, that was great. I learned a lot. Thank you so much! 🤙
And yea, I’d be interested in the “mixer as instrument” video you mentioned, sounds neat.

Thank you for taking the time to listen everyone!! I’ll do my best to clean up the sound for the next one. Honestly I’m humbled that people remember the last video and found it useful!! I’m gonna try to remain as useful as possible!! :)
