  • These are stunning! Beautiful. What a great way to do it, incorporating the landscape sounds with the music. I’ve only had time to watch a few but will surely listen to everyone one when i get back home later, with my headphones.

  • Thanks @Dav 🙏
I set myself the task of creating a video and music for each day of our visit which meant that time was a bit limited. Some tracks worked better than others I think 🤔
All of the sounds / waves / birds etc were recorded at the locations mentioned.

  • Brodick was my favorite. I think I just have a thang for birdsong haha. Such a peaceful and, well, happy track. Sounds like a fun trip/musical endeavor. Thanks for sharing! 🤙

  • the Arran barrel reserve is one of my favorite

  • Cheers @Squishy , adding birdsong to anything gets my vote. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
We went to the distillery @cuscolima … unfortunately neither of us are whisky drinkers. I was intrigued by the Arran Single Malt 30 Year Old First Release at £795 per bottle though although to be honest I was more interested in the wooden box than the alcohol. Lochranza is a beautiful place well worth a visit if you ever get the chance.

  • These are all so beautiful. I will go back and give each a like. I need to pick your brain a little if you don't mind. How do you score such perfect arrangements? :) And are all the sounds from GeoShred? I'd love to dive into more orchestral work, and yours always sounds so peaceful and relaxing. Any insights you'd care to share with me? :) You can either share here for all to read, or DM me. Also, I forgot, but which DAW do you use?

Hauntingly beautiful @GeoTony as always. The best compliment I can pay (aside from "hauntingly beautiful") is that it sounds like the place feels. Somehow you've bottled Arran, or the west coast of Scotland, in a quite lovely way, but then that's what we've come to expect :) Any curlews on this one?

  • Hi Tony, listened to everything, a good use of my Sunday morning! I have no preference, find it all little jewels of calm and peace. I keep saying it, you are a master of atmospheric music. frenq

  • Hard to pick a favorite here as well. All are equally great. It's like you can feel the place when listening to these. Beautiful scenes. I hope you will continue making more like these. Great stuff.

  • I was hoping to sit outside and listen to these, but Chicago weather is not playing nice. These are quite lovely and make me wish we had a west coast to visit. I can visualize you sitting outside in the early morning hours, gazing out at the beautiful landscape, sipping a cup of strong, freshly brewed coffee, and letting the ideas flow.

When I first saw the title, I thought of the Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland. When we were very young, we visited Ireland and Mom and Dad bought me one of those cool Irish sweaters. I wore it when I gave my class presentation. The young girls really liked it! Sadly, I spilled grape juice on it and Mom wouldn’t let me wear it any more.

Hope you and family are doing well. We are hanging in there. Peace!

  • The answer is easy Jim ( @jwmmakerofmusic ).. I cheat and use Piano Motifs. It’s my go to source of inspiration.
Dial the BPM down to 20 or less.
Make sure the 3rd Track and Melody Accomp are enabled, this gives you four different channels of midi.
Plus you can set Accomp to Multi, this gives the potential for another 3 or 4 channels.
My other go to is Decent Sampler especially ones such as Earthquake Sounds, Korg Phase 8, Chord Organ, Venus Theory Strands and Woven Strings but actually most of them are pretty good. I only use the free ones so it doesn’t have to cost the earth.
After listening to a motif I like a couple of times I then either improvise something over the top with GeoShred or come up with a simple melody. In the case of these tracks I used variously SWAM Viola, Soprano Sax and VariFlute to keep the folk / Celtic feel going.
Re DAW, I just use AUM for everything.

Sweet! I'm going to try and do something like yours after a short nap. (Shoddy sleep last night, lol.) I have Piano Motifs and can use what sounds I already have. :) Cheers, my friend.

  • Thanks @craftycurate … only a couple of Curlews all week. We did manage the ‘big 5’ however I.e. Red Deer, Red Squirrel, Golden Eagle, Seal and Otter. In addition we ticked off Dolphins and on the drive to the ferry on Friday morning heard our first Cuckoo of the year.
    Thanks for listening @Frenq 👍
    Appreciate the comments @Dav !
Cheers @Paulieworld … no coffee in the morning gazing at the landscape but we did manage Isle of Arran IPA + Gin & Tonic sat outside in the evening. A lot of people confuse the Arran / Aran thing… strangely I had an Aran cardigan that my mum knitted for me and I spilled blackcurrant all over it ☹️
