Korg Gadget LE Challenge, 2026 Edition

Hi all. Well, I feel like posing a classic forum challenge to all you great folks here after 2 years since doing it last.

Korg Gadget LE is a limited version of Korg Gadget, where you can use up to 3 tracks (or 5 with a controller), and are limited to selecting from three included Gadgets. So here's the challenge this time around...

  1. Create a piece in any genre at any length you wish using up to 5 tracks within Gadget or within Gadget LE itself. If you have full Gadget, you needn't have a controller to use up to 5 gadgets. If you're using Gadget LE without a controller, you'll be limited to 3 gadgets.

  2. Your only choices for gadgets are London (drum machine), Marseille (simple PCM rompler), and Dublin (the semi-modular bass synth).

  3. No cheating by using these gadgets in another DAW as AUv3s. Your host must either be Gadget or Gadget LE.

  4. You can use any IFX you wish. I know Gadget 2 LE has less IFX than Gadget 3 does, but let's not put a limit on said effects if you're using Gadget 3, mainly because I can't be faffed to list what IFX are allowed to be used. 🤣

  5. For mastering, you can either use Gadget's built-in limiter or render the unmastered audio to an external DAW/app of your choice (Cubasis, Grand Finale 2, etc). The latter is the only time an external app is allowed in this challenge.

  6. Once you're done mastering, upload the piece somewhere (either Youtube, Soundcloud, HearThis, etc) and link it here. Include a screenshot of your project view here (unless you upload in video format, in which case a screenshot isn't necessary).

  7. Most importantly - have fun!

No hard deadlines for this challenge, but let's maybe make a soft deadline of May 31st. Good luck!

Produced in Gadget 3 within the above limitations, mastered in Cubasis 3 with Cubasis' Studio EQ (just to remove some of the high end), Reelbus, Bark Filter, Cubasis' Brickwall, and Youlean's Loudness Meter. Here's the screenshot of the project...

(Hint - In order to get this screenshot under 2mb, I cropped the image ever so slightly in the camera roll itself so it went from a png into a jpeg.)

Can't wait to hear your entries. ❤️

  • I like this one 🤙

The challenge, or the piece of music? 😅 Well either way, join the challenge mate! ❤️

  • Initially I thought I wouldn't join in this time - Spent last few days juggling storage space  and have no space to load LE.
But I came here to listen to what you did and was glad to see standard gadget is ok considering emulating the limitations
btw loved the track really mellow and groovy. Was expecting some old school trance or house

  • I’m game, nice little track @jwmmakerofmusic

Yes, standard Gadget is allowed, but within the above limitations. ;)

Lol. Naw, I'm really into making Downtempo these days. Had a dream last night, and while I can't remember the events in the dream, the baller af Disco banger from the dream stuck with me after I woke up. I already have a working demo and hope to finish it. But I'm still sticking with Downtempo meanwhile. 🤣

Can't wait to hear your entry. :)

Thanks mate. :) Looking forward to hearing your entry too. ❤️

  • Here's a little one in Gadget for fun :)

  • @Darkstring I like that. The transform-scratch effect with the guitar sound is cool.

  • @Darkstring Really awesome! I love this a lot. A bit more on the Experimental side of TripHop while still having mass appeal. Cheers mate. :)

  • @R_2 @jwmmakerofmusic Thanks! It’s fun to play within constraints :)
