Just wondering if Drambo having it’s samples cleared when opening up a saved Loopy Pro project is a known thing?
Koala and Tahti used to have this problem and they were fixed, but it appears to be a Drambo issue now. I had a snare sample and a hi hat sample loaded in two different Flexi Sampler channels in Drambo. I save the project, close Loopy Pro and then reopen Loopy Pro. The samples in Drambo are not loaded anymore.
Do I hassle the Drambo team or the Loopy team?

Did the rest of the Drambo project load correctly? Did you save the Drambo project in Drambo AU or did you only save the Loopy Project.

I don’t know Drambo well enough to know what it provides hosts as state information.

The Koala issues you mentioned were Koala issues and Koala AU has a setting that determines whether samples are included in the AU state.

@wim : do you have any wisdom to offer here? If I recall correctly, you have some Drambo expertise.

  • The obvious question: did you save “with samples”?

  • I have a similar problem but in sampler module in Drambo when hosted in loopy pro. Occasionally same samples will simply vanish and need to be reloaded.

It’s literally like that: there’s four samples on four different notes. I open the loopy project three time in a raw, all fine. Then I open it again and one of the samples is gone.

On the other hand I have samples in flexi ampler and they never disappear. 🫥

  • I guess the real question is whether that happens with Drambo in other hosts than Loopy Pro too. I suspect it does.

I just tested it in AUM and yes, the samples are cleared in AUM as well. I guess it is a Drambo issue. Funny, I’ve never noticed it before.

If anyone wants to repeat the test…load up an AUv3 instance of Drambo into Loopy Pro or AUM. Load a flexi sampler instance into one of the Drambo internal channels. Load a sample into the flexi sampler. Create a pattern if you wish. Save the project in the host. Close the host. Reopen the host and the saved project. Open up Drambo and the flexi sampler instance. No sample.

Up-thread someone said that doesn’t happen to them. There may be a setting you need to set for the samples to be saved as part of the state.

  • See @pedro’s post above.

I just confirmed it myself, however I’m on the Drambo beta. Samples save fine when “save with samples” is selected in the Drambo AU.

Someone with the AppStore version, please try and report back to confirm.

Where is the “save with samples” setting? I don’t usually have to make any special allowances with other sampler AUv3s. The host usually just saves whatever state I have things at when I save the project.

It’s in the Save As dialog under the Drambo hamburger menu

I shouldn’t have to do any special saving of setups in the AUv3 when it’s loaded in the host. Otherwise I might as well be using IAA apps. I don’t have to with Battalion or Tahti or Koala. Why is Drambo any different?

You’re right. I just checked, and tried a new project in AUM, loaded a new project in a new Drambo auv3 instance, and then loaded a sample in Flexi. Saved the AUM project, then reopened it, and the Sample is still there without having to use that “save with samples” thing.

So evidently this is fixed in the beta version, and come to think of it, I haven’t run into any sample disappearances in any of my projects that I can recall. Of course I mainly use Drambo standalone, or when I DO use it as an auv3 in another host, I’m using it as a MIDI processor for its fantastic piano roll features.

I’m not a developer, and only @giku_beepstreet can answer to the real reason “why” this is or was happening, but I will go out on a limb and say that Drambo is a much more complicated beast than Koala or Battalion are
    (I don’t know Tahiti).

Koala and Battalion both have “loading samples” at their core, or main level, where sample loading, playing, and manipulating is the main part or backbone of the app. Shoot, Koala is built around the sample.

Drambo is different where the Flexi sampler, regular Sampler, shot sampler, and recorder are all just modules, (along with the many other types of modules.) which are loaded into a project, and then the sample is then loaded into the module. (Loads modules, which loads samples). So the “sample” isn’t at the core level, or heart of the app like the others. More like a secondary tier feature.. idk, again, I’m not a developer, just an overly enthusiastic Drambo fanboy lol

The developer has been working really hard on a ton of existing things in Drambo, as well as a lot of new and amazing features that will be coming soon. He’s a solo, one man show, and has been busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger, but rest assured, he will make sure this sample/save state thing is fixed (again it does appear to be fixed in current beta) so I’ve tagged him above so he’ll see.

  • @Mountain_Hamlet sure thing!

I edited my post above with some more rambling. I get kinda chatty with my morning coffee and meds lol

My wife would like me to see if I can get ahold of some of those meds. The coffee alone isn't making me chatty enough for her needs.
