FL Studio Mobile has a Soundfont Player!

I always talked about how FL Studio Mobile should have a soundfont player so I don't have to sample oneshots anymore. Now the dream is reality with the latest update!

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fl-studio-mobile/id432850619

Imagine coming home after a great gig to see that! Now I can use my 1000+ soundfonts (including the free General User https://www.schristiancollins.com/generaluser ) in FL Studio Mobile.

I'm definitely gonna be using it more frequently now! 😂 My biggest gripe was no ability to use various "rompler" sounds in FLSM without having to sample oneshots via AUM. Now with a soundfont player built in, that eliminates the biggest pain-in-the-arse workaround. Check this work-in-progress demo I made for my clients four-track EP...

...the brass and high strings come from that General User soundfont.

Well, I used to load Module Pro, Beathawk, Sampei, etc into AUM to record oneshot samples to load into FLSM's DW Sampler. It kinda killed the "spur of the moment" flow I'm used to from using Gadget and Nanostudio 2. The trade-off being I get cleaner mixes in FLSM.

Now with a Soundfont player, I needn't worry about that other shit. I now have my "spur of the moment" workflow in FLSM. ☺️ In short, I'm ecstatic.

  • Also once client work is done, I'll probably return to more Ambient and Experimental stuff like BoC and BT's "This Binary Universe" and the like in FLSM. 😅 A 4-track Tech House EP is easy stuff for me to knock out over the course of a couple days.

  • Well, that SF2 addition made me re-install FLSM :sunglasses:

There are things I still miss in the app like looped recording and on-the-fly quantize to name a few.
But the UI has come a long way since the last time I had it installed.

    Hell yeah!

Definitely agreed. Image-Line have vastly improved FLSM even since late 2022 when I produced an admittedly low-quality EP in it. 😅 So many awesome instrument packs and effects added since then.

I'm thankful the Soundfont player was added in. It has expanded my ability to be spontaneous in FLSM tenfold.
