It was the largest I could really make it so everything fit comfortably - this was designed from the ground up primarily for desktop but I did a pivot at the end for iPad. Thanks so much! Yep, you can find my music under Sleep Good on spotify or bandcamp
Thank you! Oh now I get the labels below the track with artist and song name 😊
Haha yep, my one little shameless self promo
Hey! I’ve been really enjoying the DAW and being able to add AUv3 plugins has been great. I’ve struggled a bit with the 3rd party plugins menu, though: I have to keep my finger pressed on the screen and scroll all the way to the plugin I want, and even then I’ve accidentally closed the menu a number of times. That same happens when I press the arrow in the lower side of the screen: the second I leave it, the menu closes. Would it be possible to add a search bar?
But again, it’s an awesome DAW. I’ve only recorded a few seconds of a very simple chord progression on guitar, followed by an accidental recording of some notes on a synth I was playing with (I hadn’t noticed the track was armed and the tape was recording)…and just listening to that, as raw and structure-less as is was, felt different. I can’t explain.
And I agree, the demo song is great! Definitely going to stream it.
Awesome! Yep I am going to revamp the ipad plugin menu, I totally forgot about that and meant to do it. Thank you!
Can one export the tracks as stems or as a two track mix down only?
As someone who’s never had experience with old gear, this one has got me interested cause it seems more than a gimmicky tape effect.
Out of respect to the workflow intent of your baby, I’m not here to make feature requests. I’m simply trying to figure out what kind of sync, if, any, this has.
1) For example, if i have an AUv3 plug such as Drambo loaded, will it automatically follow GCS tempo?
2) Does it have Ableton Link? If yes, also sync start/stop?
Weird, none of my plugins appear for instruments or effects.

@FizzyLizzy27 , did you enable Auv3 in settings?
How do I get midi learn to work?
I had not, but I just did and it works. Thanks!
@GulfCoastSynthesis this looks incredible and I’m definitely going to be picking this up on day one .
Did want to ask …where did the name come from (Gulf Coast Synthesis)? I’m from Houston pretty close to the gulf coast and was wondering if you were local!
From Austin! I am constantly staying in Port Aransas though and its a part of my essence.
Awesome !!! South east Houston here , wife’s from Austin. 😎
How do I get midi learn to work?
Are you on mac, windows, or ipad? Do you have a midi instrument selected in the audio settings?
There's currently a bug which I just fixed on the mac version and uploaded 20 min ago where the midi learn button you have to untoggle while a knob is highlighted. I'll have it fixed for the windows and ipad soon as well.
I’m on IPad.
K it should still work but you'll just need to untoggle the button while a knob is highlighted. I'm pushing through an update to ipad soon though
Thanks. I’ll try it.
When you think that Jarre created Oxygene in his Paris kitchen using second hand and broken equipment all recorded on a 8 track reel to reel. Amazing really.
Perhaps it's even more amazing that many people today think they need the perfect host and a ton of different synths plugins to make good music. People have been making amazing music with (relatively) low tech equipment for millenia 😂
Indeed Gavinski. I also believe limitation leads to creativity. Way too many options these days.
100%
Funny this comes up now …my dear friend @jwmmakerofmusic and I were talking this morning and I was telling him how much I missed the days where I was recording direct to tape. I miss the limitations of the hardware mixed with the the naïveté of not knowing Iwhat I was doing and just experimenting .
It’s darkly humorous that I’m spending money to get a sound I used to spend money trying to get rid of
Lol. I like that lofi sound though. It's why BoC's music is speaking to me louder now than in the past. ❤️ I miss those days of using a four-track tape recorder to record things I did in "MTV Music Studio 2000".
Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided.
— Brian Eno, A Year With Swollen
He certainly wasn't wrong either, lol. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug. 🤣
Choosing an AUv3 is not gonna be easy @GulfCoastSynthesis. And I have actually now a very small number of AUv3s compared to many people here, most of mine are no longer on the device.
For starters, the list is not always alphabetically ordered. It seems to sometimes use the developer name to determine the order, even when it doesn't show the dev name. For example, Outgrowth is near the start of the list, presumably because the dev name is Aqeel Aadam.
Compare to something like AUM, which has a search function and various sorting options.
Also, do you have any idea when a better manual might be available? The current one is missing so much info. I reckon the workflow here will be a lot less obvious to the average DAW user than you might expect! Thnx
I see the desktop has drag and drop for audio files. Does the iPad version? And is there any direct way to load files via the Files browser?
