Pamela Anderson’s video was leaked too.

This reply won the thread. 🤣 Holy f--king shit.

  • Honestly, if I was in a video with Pamela Anderson. I wouldn't be mad about that :D

You’d need to have much much bigger knobs on the Pro-5 to compete with that Pam/Tommy vid.

    LOL :D

  • It was a popular iOS sound designer who leaked it.

I’m choosing to take it as a good thing that someone was excited enough to share it. Still, it was a little surreal seeing it out there before there’s even a beta or release date.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and apologies for the disruption.

Quite the scandal for a Monday morning.

With all these app releases, I must be compensating for something 😆

Good publicity indeed haha. I the meantime @analog_matt you should probably set the video status to private rather than unlisted

I think that was kinda intentional, spreading a word of things to come ;)

Audiokit trying to create hype prior to release? Never! 😂😂

But yeah, we’re gonna need some initials or clues of some kind to get this manhunt started Matt

At this point it's almost standard practice?!
Best sounding synth since like forevahhhh :sunglasses:

    I honestly didn't plan this, guys 🤣

  • The offender has given me a Retro Keys bank that will be free for you all this week. So, everyone wins.

    Just urban musicians.

Hello @AnalogMatthew , just a suggestion for the modwheel: you've probably tested Repro by U-He, they've got an interesting way to set the min and max value of the modwheel. This gives better flexibility to control the overall modulation without going too quickly too far.

Anyways, I'm very much waiting for this app, when it will be ready of course!

Adding mod wheel depth ranges is something I’d like to bring to all the apps that are getting MPE later this year, including this app, J8, and maybe some future ones. The plan is to make it part of a new expression matrix. My handmade apps take a little longer than the vibe-coded ones, but I do want to get there.

Since you brought up the Repro-5...
If I have one warning about Prophet-5 inspired apps, it’s this: I would be very careful to folks about using Repro-5 as a reference for what a real hardware Prophet-5 is supposed to sound like.

I say this with a lot of respect for U-He, because they are clearly brilliant at what they do, but I would not personally use Repro-5 as a standard for Prophet-5 hardware behavior. Quite a few details, like the filter and PWM response, feel different from the real instrument to me. That may be completely intentional, and that is fine. Great to push things forward. I just think of it as more of an interpretation than a strict emulation.

If you saw the leaked video, you can hear that even the basic filter behavior of the hardware, this app, Softube, and Arturia lines up much more closely. Repro-5 is the outlier.

Thank you for answering me @AnalogMatthew ! Yes I randomly happened to see the leaked video and exactly saw and heard what you described, which surprised me, especially about the stepped vs smooth filter. Although I've got to say I prefer it to be smooth generally speaking ☺️ Also, effects do a great deal of work in Repro.

    Sure I don't own a Prophet so I can't compare anyway.

Haha I like your comment "not vibe coding takes longer time", I totally get that. That's also why I wrote that I will anyway wait until it's ready for YOU! 👍🏻☺️

In the end, no matter how faithful an emulation is, the matter is how much you are inspired by the sound of it. I was initially kind of reluctant to go with a simple architecture like a Prophet and thought about buying Diva instead. But I noticed that the precisely limited range of tones of Repro was the closest to TV shows and music from my childhood in the early 80s that really inspired me. While investigating it, I noticed the Prophet V showing up for a lot of musicians from that area.

It also made me appreciate how limited modulation with a single LFO would lead to specific tones I was after.

And good idea to set these in a mod ) expression matrix. ❤️

Thanks again, good luck with the development and don't worry: we'll wait until you're ready and happy with your app!

  • In the interest of not overly hyping an app, I'll leave this here without comment
