I’ve been getting this error a lot lately. Usually when I come back to the forum by hitting the back button, but sometimes it happens when opening a thread or going to a different page on a thread.

I have no idea what category to put this in. Sorry

Comments

  • Me too.

  • I see it also, in iCabMobile, when coming back to the app (on iPad) and hitting reload.

  • Me too. Every time the page has been idle for a while, or whenever I open a new tab to go to loopypro.com have to close it out and do it a second time to see to the forum load properly.

  • Me too. I tap on reload (on iPad) and it works.

  • Same going on for me as well. Sometimes I have to type the forum URL in the address bar multiple times before the forum shows up. I wonder if @wim and/or @Michael can take a look.

  • It appears to be related to the effort to block robotic access to the forum. You end up going through the steps to validate that you are not a robot and login again. Probably a good idea if annoying.

  • Pipes sometimes get clogged, classic plumbing issues. Just wait a few minutes and hit refresh
But really this must be some vanilla thing or the infrastructure used cause I see it happen on other vanilla based forums (that perhaps all use the same infrastructure)

That may be the case, but I never have to re-login, just re-open the site from my bookmark.

The forum used to sustain a single login for many days but no longer. If it’s a side effect of managing “bot” access and the intentional spam then that’s a good trade off.

That doesn't have anything to do with the server or it would be more widely reported. It sounds more to me like you have cookies disabled or something. Ad blockers can do this as well.

The forum uses cookies to keep track of whether you're logged in or not. Cookies do have an expiration date, so periodic logins will always be needed, but they should be on the order of months or weeks, not every time.

You might try clearing your browser cache if you can't find what changed that's causing this for you. However, that will also probably force you to log in again to other sites, so you may not want to do that.

  • I never have to log in again. The page simply doesn’t load

Probably due to the unfortunate steps Michael had to take to combat the Denial of Service attacks, bot invasions, crawlers, etc that were killing the site. Still, I never see that, so I'm not sure what's up for you and others seeing that.

The server was getting hammered again earlier today. Seems to have passed for now.

  • No re-login needed for me, either.
Just connection issues as others have stated above.

It’s only been happening in the past week. It’s not a huge deal, but it does make it less smooth to navigate the site. Logging in again hasn’t been needed, just refreshing typically works.

Yes this is a new thing but I’m getting the same on KVR Audio too. Might be a safari update?

Yep, takes a refresh or two for the forum to load, but yeah, all those attacks and bots and stuff are bad news.

It happens to me here in Safari where I go to hit the home button after it being left for some tome. It doesn’t log me out.

I am in full default Safari on the iPad for sites like Loopypro.com.

I get a lot more cloudflare checks these days as well on different sites.

Damn AI experimenters. There is already a place that has scraped the Internet for all it’s data and provides it for free. Go there and leave the good people of the world alone.

The Internet is under siege from the robots. Free speech is being hampered one agentic bot at a time.

I wouldn’t mind a refresh, but those don’t work for me either. I have to close and open a new tab, which even that i normally wouldn’t have minded, but since the newest update, to view all tabs there’s an extra tap involved. And i don’t like pinching to view all tabs, because that requires holding the phone with two hands which means i have to first remove my free hand from out of my pocket, or even worse, putting down my food. This ordeal has been quite stressful, who can i sue?
