developers: why not porting Airwindows plugs to auv3 iOS?!

they are free with code here:

this would be a fabulous achievement for iOS music scene!
big thanks in advance for the one who will make this step.

It would be great if these could come to iOS. I know it’s not quite the same but there are a few of them built into Buttersynth. Mackity is one of them plus a few of the zplane filters iirc.
As Ford says, a few are built in in ButterSynth. I also have the package on desktop. I do not miss them on iOS and the ones in BS does not impress either imo. BUT, that's me and I'm curious to know what you think so great about them they should be on iOS, which one beat what we already have in plentitude? Honest curiosity and hopefully not stepping on anyones toes.
What I personally really miss on iOS is containers, like Reason Studio's Combinator, where you can combine (oh!) any AuV3 with another and build your own shortcut interface for their various functions, that would be truly great. @cem_olcay maybe?
Pxlhg:
there are some really interesting distortions and big reverbs
and other mixing/mastering tools
that would come handy...
Have you suggested this to the man himself, (Chris I think he goes by) a port to AuV3. Maybe he's no stranger to the idea?
You know, there are certain open-source licenses that Apple does not allow in apps. This code may carry an incompatible license, which may make it impossible to port.
robs 1,99 apps are at least some kind of airwindows style.
Should be OK I think. GPL2 and other license types can be a problem if there are restrictions, but this is an ad-hoc wide open license:
I actually just posted this question on the github page for the Airwindows consolidated plugin which contains all 400 plus as one plugin as that is written in JUCE so it should be possible to port to auv3. The consolidated plugin is created by BaconPaul who is the main developer on the Surge open source synth. This was his response:
"The code is all MIT licensed so if someone had a JUCE commercial license and app store account set up, it would in theory be possible. But getting an AU to meet the app store constraints also would probably be a ui rewrite.
So unlike with surge (where GPL3 stops the project) this one is "just" work.
Moreover, an enterprising dev could use the static library at the bottom of this project and just rewrite an application from first principles.
I'm not going to do those things but if you find a dev who is interested I am more than happy to help them and collaborate on how I would approach it." https://github.com/baconpaul/airwin2rack/issues/204#issuecomment-3224054533
I find Chris's Airwindows plugins great as a source of modular building blocks and use them lots when on a desktop. There's all kinds of useful (and sometimes weird) plugins from the Channel plugs for console emulation including Mackity or MackEQ which are great for that pushed Mackie mixer vibe, various saturations like Density which are super useful, a range of compressors (love Pyewacket his pye emulation), crazy reverbs like Melt or Galactic, bit reducers in various forms, he's modeled the Ensoniq Z Plane filters, modulation (I love his tremolo), the tapes are really good including new one TapeHack which is ace on drums, great clippers, the dithers are fab etc etc. It's a deep and slightly odd world (think knowing a boutique builder who keeps building weird one off boxes) but I do use them constantly and they're usually very efficient and sound great to me. I'd love them to be on iOS. I think it would be amazing if someone had the capacity to port them over with Baconpaul's help.
thanks @Edhombre for the good research!:)
I just wanted to remember that this plug pack can't be monetized
BUT! there is always a good place on its interface for a "DONATE" box or button...
these are hard times and I see why coders don't jump to help.
Are you sure about that? If there is such a restriction somewhere, I'm missing it. The only restriction I saw was that the MIT license notice has to be included in any copies.
wim:
nope, I'm not sure.
But all versions of these plugs are free
so far... so I assumed that...
One would hope that they'd be offered free in the amazingly generous spirit that they've been offered. But I do believe they could be monetized according to the license.
you could be right:)
but in order to be free or not on iOS
it needs to exist 1st...:)
Mine is ready. Who wants to join the TestFlight? It’s a port of Airwindows Consolidated with an iOS-like UI. In the spirit of Airwindows it’s sparse and simple, but I’m adding a bit of qol, to make the 500+ effects a bit more approachable.
Oh and it will be free and open source.

OMG WAT?! I’d love to join! That YouTube channel is like a guilty pleasure, don’t even own a desktop but love watching him show off the cool stuff he’s created. He’s like the Bob Ross of plugins. Thanks for porting 🤙
I would love to join!
Oh this will be a big hit, love to give it a go, I use that all in one version on the Mac already
.
@sveinbjorn I’m interested!
thanks gor this!!!!
@sveinbjorn I’m also greatly interested! I love Airwindows plugins
@sveinbjorn ✋ would love to give these plugs a run.
Have used them on the desktop and to have them available here would be awesome.
Fantastic, please count me in,
thank you.
count me in!
Also interested
I was moments away from doing this myself. Would love to check it out!
Very interested. There’s been some ports to stuff like VCV Rack and Surge XT. Please make a decent GUI.
Also very interested! It’ll be great getting these on iOS
Would love to join the TestFlight if there are any invites left.
Also, I think the Rivet series of apps use air windows.
