shapesynth anyone?
Inspired by @jwmmakerofmusic’s recent challenge to make a track using only one synth, I dug Erik Sigth’s shapesynth out of the iOS mothballs. This track uses only that “humble” noisemaker.
Let me hear you talking to me.🙂

Well, good choice for the limited rules and well done.
It's a cool synth from my almost* neighbour Erik (I never met him though) and I think he improved the UI with some more contrast, or I might remember wrong. This one and ELSA is easy to underestimate due to UI.
*around 1km(0.6214 miles) might be a bit far for "neighbour" but it's a fun (for me) fact.
Daaaang! Are all those fx built into shapesynth too? @rottencat Sounds fannntastic! Never heard of this app, might have to pick it up…
(Sweet circle action too btw 🤙)
Lovely stuff @rottencat
I dig the circle animation too @Squishy
Nice @rottencat
The music makes me think of a nonspecific scene in a movie, where a person discovers some new place (secret cellar, new planet, etc) with equal parts optimism and potential danger lying ahead.
Ive always wanted shapesynth, I think its the only Eric Sigth app that has not been on sale.
Update - after checking app raven… Shapesynth was on sale for one day in 2019, and only $1 off.
Still reasonably priced at only $4.99
Thanks @Pxlhg!
If you ever meet Erik, tell him that I love his apps, especially shapesynth and rymdigare.
And e-l-s-a.
And strng.
And tardigrain…🙂
Thank you very much,
No internal fx.
In the fx chain I used MagicBlur, Blackhole, Wider and Bark Filter.
Then I ran it through Afterglow, which I am liking better and better each time I use it.
Thank you very kindly @egobeats!
Thanks @Poppadocrock! 🙂
I seem to recall that there was some kind of bundle.
Might be a more economical option.
Awesome one, @rottencat
Love me some Erik/Humble apps too. And you inspire me to do better stuff with them lol
@Pxlhg 1km depending where you are in sweden may be close enough to call him neighbor
Ill take a look, cheers.
We've been in touch via mail, I've done presets for him (Strng and Rymdigare). Maybe should write and figure what his up to. Nothing since Rymdigare which I know totally stumped him with all the praise it got. Probably raised the bar for the next project is what I mean. We'll see. 😊
Found it! Aptly called the “Humble Bundle”

Elsa frekvens shapesynth and strng for a tad under $16. I love both tardigrain and Rymdigare so I’ll prolly pick this up. Each app looks neat as hell haha
Oh Yea, duh, i knew that, appreciate the help. Totally forgot about it. Im slipping, lol.
I think i held off because i really only wanted shapesynth at the time. i have STRNG, Tardigrain, & Rymdigare, all great, and even though Elsa and frekvens are supposed to be good, I thought… i have a few similar apps and shapesynth will go on sale at some point, lol. Fast forward 2 years and not a peep. I still want Shapesynth but I’m a bit backed up on apps to learn at the moment. Im sure i will get at some point.
Cheers
Thanks very much!🙂
