Nugget 01 - Lil' Doc by Sketch Audio, LLC - Available for preorder - Free
https://apps.apple.com/app/id6767370749
Lil' Doc is a compressor effect based on the muscular, vinyl simulator in an early 00s workhorse sampler. It’s a powerful effect that’s found a cult following among lo-fi heads, and rightly so! We first implemented this compression algorithm for our paid plug-in Doctor Vibe, and the sound was so unique, we thought it would be a great first entry in our free plug-in series. Enjoy!
Features:
- Completely free, no unlock required!
Four controls:
- Detroit-style mix slammer
- Warm vinyl noise and crackle
- Drive to clip the converters!
- Four sample grades to choose
Light or dark color scheme.
Lil' Doc is an AUv3 effect plug-in. For best experience, load the plug-in on an effects slot in a compatible host. You can also preview the effect in the standalone with our new mini-player.

Excellent!
Nice! I’ve always been on the fence in purchasing the full Dr Vibe. Maybe this will give me a taste of what I’ve been missing?
FWIW, I have a bunch of other/different compression apps, but I always either use DDMF’s Magic Death Eye (stereo) or the native Compressor module in Drambo.
I am by no means a compression expert, but I have learned a few things over the years. I mostly just dial things in until they sound good (to my ears anyway)
Wow you guys are fast! I literally just released this for preorder a couple hours ago.
Really excited for this free lineup! We'll be dropping one a month throughout the summer and each one will highlight our favorite algorithms from our paid plug-ins in a convenient, free package.
We do have completely new products in the works, too, with the next one likely landing in September.
I'm looking forward to that for sure!
🙂 I’m liking this. The Lo-1 Grade setting sounds similar to an Amiga 8-bit sampler Nam profile that I have.
The Lo-2 setting sounds similar to an Akai S-950 Proteus/json file for GuitarML. It’s close but I prefer the sound of Nugget 01, to be fair I’m sure it’s cause of the filter and compressor that’s included. The “Dirt” Grade sounds like them other Lo-fi SP-series samplers.
This will definitely be replacing my RX-950 plug-in on ios. I’m not saying Nugget-01 sounds truer to some particular hardware, I’m not qualified to opine on that. I just like it better after A/B ing against RX-950 and my other profiles, except Emu SP-12 is nice regarding how it blows out a kick drum. Who knows, i could be totally wrong what this is meant to emulate.
This is convenient and seems a great resampling tool without getting involved with a setup template. Seems to have danced the line well between a focused tool and multi-effect. It’s almost like a channel strip. I should mention drum break was my source. I look forward to trying out future nuggets. Awesome that this is free.
@sketchaudio
simple, lovely, good sounding and handy.
big thank you for this series.
Wow, this plugin has the perfect dimensions for Drambo on portrait mode on iPhone. Looks great!

Thank you @sketchaudio !
Hey everyone, thanks for checking out Lil' Doc! Glad to hear people are enjoying the sound
@thecalimaki great! Yeah the UI worked out really nice on iPhone for these.
