Threatening Rain

A sort of ethnic / Indian / Industrial / Jazz vibe going on while waiting for the forecast rain to arrive.

Makes use of the Soft Drummer MIDI plug-in that arrived a couple of days ago to play some Roli Drums.
Soft Drummer generated the iBassist pattern that (via the three iBassist outputs) plays nearly everything else.
ZOA and myself on GeoShred / SWAM Soprano Saxophone complete the picture.
Full app list in the SC description.

  • That was beautiful!

  • Nice, relaxed feel. Perfectly titled. Fortunately, no rain here today.
I have been wanting to try a live mix in AUM to create something like this.
How many channels do you typically control during a performance?
How many times does it usually take to get it “just right”?

  • Many thanks @Rodrigo1709 and @Paulieworld 👍
This had 26 channels Paul but only 6 were Mix Bus channels that I manipulated in the session.
Ha, that’s the million dollar question. This one was about half a dozen, probably 4 to get levels / panning / routing correct, then one that I cocked up the solo, another one when GS / SWAM started playing up and then the final you hear here. There was lots of playing around to get the right sounds, trying different octaves, adding things / taking them back out again before this.
Some other tracks take dozens of attempts mainly due to me messing up the actual playing ☹️

That’s a very interesting process. Do you have a video of one of these sessions? I’ve been interested in using AUM to make music in a different way compared to a traditional DAW, and reading the description in SC I got really excited about how th e different instances of iBassist were combined. :)

  • Very nice! I love the way the different rhythms roll around giving a tidal effect or rolling clouds. A touch of the 'Jan Garbareks' is always welcome and a really cool outro, had to listen again. Did it make it rain?

  • Any reference to JG is good for me @pbelgium 😊
It’s lashed it down today ☔️

  • I like it a lot, very cinematic feel :)

  • Cheers @Rodrigo1709 … I’m not sure what I do is particularly unique.

This video of me creating something for Drone Day is basically the same workflow as this track https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/comment/1475181/#Comment_1475181

It doesn’t use iBassist but if you load iB then it provides three midi outputs that can drive other instruments. What it outputs can be configured in the iB Midi settings section .

Thank you for the link, not only I loved the composition but it also inspired me to use AUM in a more serious manner. I have only made a few experiments so far with the Bud apps and the miid outputs in iBassist, but that's about to change. Oh, and I just subscribed to your channel!
