Pixel Art by FizzyLizzy27

Stuff I’ve been working on so far this month. Anyone able to ID what movie the monster is from?

Comments

  • No clue Re which movie, but the monster image is really cool

  • Shoot, I meant to put this in arts and crafts. Who do I ping?

The monster is the Modor from Netflix’s The Ritual, a bastard offspring of Loki worshipped by a forest cult. If you like horror it’s really good, very British dialog and beautiful scenery.

Ooh, horror is my favorite genre these days tbh, but I'm very picky. I really love good horror, but most horror is meh at best. I'll Google this, thnx!

  • These monsters always look so miserable. No wonder they're bad tempered.

You ping @wim who can help relocate the thread.

Meanwhile, your pixel art is amazing!

  • The pixel art app Pixquare has daily challenges which gives you a prompt and a limited palette to work with.

    Letter (attached.gif)
Nothing crazy but it was fun animating a weird custom font.

    Blacksmith
This one’s based on the Pokemon Tinkatuff. I tweaked the palette to get enough colors for the Pokémon’s shades. I tried to do some anti aliasing with colors I added to the palette myself.

    Tank
This is based off one of my favorite jokes. I love working with a tight color palette.

Two fish are in a tank. One looks to the other and asks:

  • I knew the answer.

    Just saying lol.

  • “Come Here”

  • Ghost

I couldn’t decide which model I liked better so I tried to make em both work

Haha, I like those, the one in front is best imo

I loved this film, you’re the first person I’ve seen who has also watched it.
Can’t beat some good old Folk Horror.

  • One of the wildest monsters I've ever seen. The reveal was top notch. Kinda reminds me of the reveal in that one love and robots episode.

Bro, you need to see the movie BORDERS

  • A few pieces floating around. I’m sure I’ve shared a few before but they lean towards the horror theming I seem to trend towards:

    Purple Witch

    Marginalia #1

    Angel From My Nightmare

    Character scratch sheet:

This is my favorite piece I’ve done:
    Cthulu

  • Thanks everyone who’s taken the time to look at these and comment! Glad the silly horror art style is resonating with others. Definitely been on a music hiatus with pixel art and app dev. Rotating hobbies helps keep me fresh and I’m appreciative of this forumas a space for various friends of artistic expression and supportive users. Yal rock 🤘🏼

  • I'm so grateful I convinced the mods to create the "Arts & Crafts" section. I'm legit enjoying the hell out of this thread and seeing your amazing pixel art. ❤️ Which app do you use to craft these?

Same on the arts n crafts! I use Pixquare for just about everything, though sometimes I use Procreate with The Pixel Art Experience brush set. I’m pretty sure Pixquare is free with full features and you can save 5 artworks, IAP gets unlimited saves (maybe some import/export options? Can’t remember).

That's cool! I'll have to give Pixquare a go and see how I like it.

These are amazing! I really do love your pixel art, mate. :)

  • Added a background, clouds and a sunflower to my Marginalia traveler. Cropped and uncropped.

  • Really awesome!

  • I think I’m gonna say this one’s finished. At the least I’m tired of looking at it for a while haha.

Here’s the artwork I used as reference (not by me):

That's really an amazing pixel art version of the original. :) You've really nailed the whole look and feel of that era of computer graphics.

Thanks Jim, I’m glad you enjoy these! I’m surprised how much I ended up liking the cowboy and couple of cacti. It took a while to get the angel looking decent, so I put it down for a few months.

I think my style would fit well in the Gameboy Advance era. I’ve trended towards a MOTHER 3 kind of art style. I really love borders around sprites.

Me too! :) And yes, I miss the Gameboy Advance era. Great times, mate.
