5 ate 7, 7 ate 9 - Acoustic Guitar Loop for Collaboration
An original acoustic guitar loop available for collaboration - download and mangle.
This one is a bit of a challenge due to the odd time signatures. It sounds quite natural and flowing to me, but I have heard it many, many, many times.
Taylor GS Mini recorded on iPhone with my old Sony ECM-MS908C microphone (lovely sound)

Got it. I 8 1 2. I have been playing with mixed time signatures. What tempo did you record this at? I usually pick a tempo that’s an integer multiple of 10, with no decimal points (60, 90, 120, etc.) but I would like to match it exactly. Key looks like C, but that would be too easy.
Edit - 8 measures at 120 seems to work. It loops perfectly without any clicks or stutters. The very last chord will be cut off, though. I was just playing along with metronome, so actual drums and other voices will be “interesting “.
J'taime @egobeats. Look forward to hearing more.
Hi Paul, the tempo is a loose 84 bpm. Sorry, not a multiple of 10, that's just the way it came out recording without a click. There's no real key here, just two implied chords: a Dmaj9 and a Bbmaj7 (#4/#5) - sorry that's a difficult one but it sounds pretty. If I put my jazz-hat on it's the 3rd mode from the melodic minor scale: R 2 3 #4 #5 6 7 (Lydian #5), or just play it by ear, that works too. I'm really glad there's some interest in this loop, it's definitely challenging.
I found something that seems to work nicely. The timing reminds me a little bit of Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. The concept is very similar to something I posted yesterday on SoundCloud. A repeating theme that builds over time. Sort of like Bolero. It’s a remix of something I posted here a few years ago, so I probably won’t post it again on LPF. If you get a moment, I would love to hear your thoughts. It’s called Sphere. No particular reason for the title. This new one is nothing like it. I’ll probably spend a few days on this one. Would you like to hear it before I post, or should I just go for it?
This is a very beautiful little loop, thanks for sharing P
I dig it, it definitely has a sweet ring to it.
Just go for it. Had a listen to Sphere. The slow build up made me want to hear it kick off, which it did. The vocals on top are beautiful and fit perfectly, really changes the mood and dynamic. Nice one!
