    So that method would probably cause delays.
    You need something that can slow the latency of the daw to compensate.

    You very obviously haven't used it. There's no latency with djay pro's stem separation at all, not half a second, not a quarter of a second, not a tenth of a second. It works incredibly well. I use it a lot in peformance. I wouldn't use it to replace Logic's offline rendering if I was looking for the best possible sound, but its very comparable with pretty much all other popular splitters, with the advantage of being real-time.

    I don't have my own video using it, and this is NOT indicative of my taste in DJ's :smile: but it does absolutely demonstrate DJay's stem separating being performed in absolute real-time in a mode where sensitivity to latency really matters. . Note the lanes in the left and right displays for the stems and D'angelo's controlling of when the levels are up and down.

    And you are running live audio through it? Not playback like you usually use Djay?

    And you are running live audio through it? Not playback like you usually use Djay?

    No, I wouldn't even have a use case for that. Maybe Robin Rimbaud type things of playing live radio shows through it if I was a more experimental type of human. If there was a band they'd have individual mics/lines. If there was a recording it would go in my DJ playlist. I'm sure as you're asking you can imagine the use case but no, not my requirement at all.

    If you split stems beforehand in traktor, you can play them in real time. Djay plays in realtime. But those seconds its loading a track, its spinnig up a buffer. This is not new, dj software always did this, but now that buffer includes stem sep. It does not need to separate the entire song, and it can separate a track faster than it takes to play it back.

    But stem sep still isn’t a real time technology, it just isn’t, because it works with a very large sample/length of audio at once. It’s not like a neural amp or the like, those are pre-processed (precomputed) and audio can flow through them predictably. There’s more compute in stem sep.

    Thus, again, its not a good candidate for Link Audio, you want it all to reside inside a controlled system. Like djay. That can manage a large buffer before you press play so it feels real time and seamless.

    Trust me, this has been a special iterest of mine for years.

    If you look at hardware, no standalone mixers do stem sep. Because it can’t be done. Or not with any public technology.

    That’s my only point.

    I use Djay, it works great. Its stem sep is flawless for a “real time” system. The term “real time” is a slight fib, its more “just-in-time” processing. Ready very quickly when you need it so it feels like its instantaneous.

    ANd why on earth are you trying to pronounce whether DJ software is a good candidate for Link Audio. In fact Deadmau5 already demo'd his prototype software which incorporates Link Audio.
