Demo using John Cale's 4'33":

To be honest that’s one of the best compositions I’ve heard from this forum. Not sure what category I would file it under, maybe ambient silence?
Seriously though I have more than once went into the john cage rabbit hole. Mainly using drambo, people coughing, rain outside, police cars or ambulances
Nowadays I don’t have that time on my hands, but if people want me to play 4’33” just put an instrument in front of me, whatever instrument, I can pull it on spot
Die Musik ist nicht in den Noten, sondern in der Stille dazwischen.
(The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between.)
-Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Hey Michael, since this is open source now, do you think you could squeeze this super important feature into your next update of LoopyPro? Maybe give the option to record either mode... one with that pesky silence taken out (camelCaseMode), and one with just the silence from the recording (NameTBD) for those artsyFartsy types? I'm sure it would make it super easy fun to perform multiple loops in perfect abstract tempo.
Imagine in camelCase mode you play a simple 4 on the floor kick and then it plays back 4 times as fast, no pesky silences. 120 tempo my ass, let's do 480 BPM, the way I like it. That way I could dance to it.
Imagine an artsyFartsy type using the (workshopping the name) camelToeMode and they loop their spoken word poem... and then the audience can listen to the loop
of
their
breaths
before
and
after
they
spoke,
as
well
as
the
silences
in
between
their
very
profound
poem
called
theHiddenScreamInsideOfMe
for
the
next
eight
minutes
or
so
as the performer takes their time and stares deeply into each person's eyes
until
they
reach
into
their
very
soul
and
they
all
cry,
one
after
another
after
another
after
another
until the whole audience is weeping.
Or something like that.
Either way, we're talkin' breathtaking (literally) music...
I see no flaws in this idea.
I’ll have same what you’re having

Waiting to see hard the usual fall from grace this one has, once it lands properly…

Meh. For $9.99 a week it should have déjà vu mode so you don’t have to listen to anything at all.
Bebot is getting Auv3!?
🐫 camelCase update: introducing bigHump.
You asked for nothing. We delivered anyway.
There's a new knob next to SILENCE, and it does what every camel does best — store energy in the hump. Turn it up and watch your waveform go FLAT → LIFTED → PLUMP → MAX HUMP: first it normalizes, then it just… keeps going. Soft-limiting, saturation, makeup gain. The dynamic range you once knew is gone. The hump remains.
The workflow:
1. SILENCE knob removes the gaps.
2. bigHump knob removes the quiet parts of the parts that were left.
3. There is no step 3. You're already too loud.
It re-normalizes at the end so it never technically clips — we're reckless, not irresponsible.
Pairs beautifully with camelCase mode for that "4-on-the-floor at 480 BPM and also somehow brickwalled" sound @coloringpad has been requesting.
Still free for now. Still local. Still not an AUv3. LUFS meters now flee on sight.

lol no I was being facetious
You have

Mind.
Love it.
Can’t you do the same thing with dRambo?
Damn you man!
Is this FX suitable for live playing? If I put it in my guitar FX chain, can I eliminate the space between all those pesky strings and play them all at once without all that annoying strumming?
Can it also help me finally see 12 aum channel faders on the screen at the same time without scrolling? That I'd pay good money for!
Wait. So if you export the silence then you get ... more music than the original, right?
Wolfgang must be spinning in his grave about now. We all about to kick some ass on his legacy.
Yes, you get … the true essence of Classical music.
And the silence in classical music is generally considered to be much more dynamic than, say, the silence in Techno music.
The essence of silence in classical music is sunshine, from the early pinks of dawn until the last purples of dusk, basking us in the purity of the infinite range of humanity's emotional journey.
The essence of silence in techno is a strobe light, from dusk till dawn, capturing in brutal pictures the primal blur of humans of the night in a neverending metered, relentless, timeless clock.
