False Memory by Stephan Bolch (Released)
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/false-memory/id6781282087
FALSE MEMORY is a real-time audio disintegration effect. Feed it any sound and watch it decay. A tape left in the sun. A corrupted file half-recovered from a dead drive. A memory dissolving as you try to hold onto it.
Turn up MEMORY and the destruction begins. Everything else shapes how the sound falls apart.
Destruction Engine
The Analog / Digital slider is the soul of the effect. Slide left for warm, organic decay: Cassette wobble, Reel-to-reel saturation, VHS tracking errors. Slide right for cold, precise corruption: Lo-fi aliasing, Circuit-bent glitches, Data-mosh block artifacts.
Drift destabilizes pitch and timing. At low settings it breathes. Cranked up, the signal starts to lose its grip on reality.
Damage controls how aggressively the signal gets torn apart.
Atmosphere
Fog smears the frequency spectrum into clouds. Three modes: Tonal keeps the harmonic structure intact, Inharmonic scatters it, Evolving slowly morphs between the two.
Ghosts lets past audio bleed through the current signal. Echoes repeat rhythmically. Imprints leave residual traces. Granular scatters fragments across time.
Texture
Hiss adds tape noise, from subtle warmth to a roaring floor
Crackle introduces vinyl pops and surface damage
Set It and Forget It
Evolve lets the destruction deepen automatically over time. Pick a duration from 1 to 64 minutes. Walk away. Come back to something completely different.
The Randomize button rerolls all destruction parameters instantly. Hit it until something clicks.

Looks interesting. May end up in my toolbox.
That's really interesting!
Problem with scaling AUM iPad air 2 iOS 15.8.8
I looped a 5 second classical cassette and let the Evolve run for 4 minutes

(Desktop version)
This app with Ambiotica and Exosphere (Igor Vasiliev's apps are great) are making my day. Just lost an hour inside them. If you are into ambient and sound disintegration with those 3 apps you have a lot covered. There are others that I would add like rymdigare and Audio Damage's Kombynat, Traverse, Ascent and Descent comes to mind now. What a fun time am I having
Verrrrry cool. I love Traverse and all, but with the extra control in this one I feel like I can get closer to the decaying delays I’m after. Hell, maybe I’ll use both of the apps together! Solid demo, much appreciated 🤙
Anyone also run into an issue where sometimes the Damage slider gets stuck at a certain value and can’t be moved? Seems to sometimes happen after randomizing.
Yes and it’s happened with other sliders too.
Yes, reported to dev, he’s on it
Thanks for the reports everyone.
@Gavinski @MrStochastic — the slider snap-back is caused by Evolve mode. When Evolve is running, it continuously pushes four parameters toward maximum: Memory, Damage, Fog, and Ghosts. If you try to drag any of those down while Evolve is active, it gets pushed right back.
Turn Evolve off if you want to adjust those four manually. Once it's off, all sliders move freely. Let me know if you're still seeing it with Evolve disabled.
@Prog1967 — thanks for the screenshot. The scaling issue with the Evolve buttons getting cut off is already fixed and will be in the next update.
@eylvy — that 4-minute Evolve loop sounds great, nice experiment.
The Ghosts slider is such a nice little touch. The way they come in on this delay is pretty cool. This app is pretty cool.

Needs auto muted mic in initial launch !
My ears!
C’mon and announce the losers already, @Gavinski . I really want this.
This is completely my jam
Yaye, i lost! Now i can finally buy this! 😆
Preach 😂
Haha
