Morphix - Morphing Wavetable Synthesizer

Morphix is a polyphonic morphing wavetable synth and a faithful reconstruction of the lost 2005 FSR Morphite. Its architecture, parameters, and complete 64-patch factory bank were reverse-engineered from the original and rebuilt from scratch with JUCE — now a modern, multi-platform instrument themed after Aleph Void.

A morphing oscillator feeds a state-variable filter, an amp VCA, and a stereo flanger, shaped by independent amplitude and filter ADSRs and a tempo-synced LFO. Sweep the morph parameter for evolving, animated textures — from glassy pads to gritty leads — all wrapped in a clean, dark Aleph Void interface.

Features
• Morphing wavetable oscillator into a state-variable filter (cutoff / resonance / env / keytrack)
• Independent amplitude and filter ADSR envelopes
• Tempo-syncable LFO routable to morph and cutoff
• Built-in stereo flanger
• Full pitch section with bipolar tune / fine
• 64 factory presets recovered from the original synth
• Import / Export your own .vstpreset patches
• Branded Aleph Void UI — void palette, violet accent, JetBrains Mono type
• AUv3 plug-in for use in GarageBand, AUM, Logic, and other AUv3 hosts

Plays in your favorite DAW or stands alone. Built by Aleph Void.

  • Watched the video on their website and thought...what the hell, it's only $1.99...
Well, it's buggy, dropdowns don't work in the AUV3 version and the sound is meh...

Thnx for the report, glad I'm not the fall guy this time, too many meh apps recently, we need a rota system 😂

  • We need a new Bram Bos cracker.

  • I don't like adding nothing but negativity, but I really have to recommend against this. The UI is nearly unusable, and whatever the particulars of its synthesis method, it offers nothing distinct or even really usable.

I gather that it's based on what may have been an old implementation of now-common wavetable operations. I'd never even heard of it before this app. It certainly lacks in every respect, compared to more common and familiar applications.

Sounds like honesty to me and I for one appreciate it, thank you!

Absolutely, bring it on, thank you

  • I'm guessing this was vibe coded by an amateur rather than agentic coded. Well, the price matches the quality in this case.

Sounds like we might need negative prices on some occasions.

    Haha, indeed.

A discount around 400% would make more sense though, right? 🤣

I'm thinking also a class action suit for psychological damage caused by having to read all those horrible AI AppStore descriptions...i now get panic attacks any time I hear the word 'breathes'...

  • Hello, Morphix author here. Thanks for all the honest feedback. I fixed the drop down issue in version 1.14. Also, I just submitted version 1.15 to the app store. 1.15 should have some usability improvements for the UI. If you have specified complaints about the app, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what those are so that I can address them. Thanks again.

You asked for it, so here I go. When you start Morphix the default preset (Hm Saw Lead) sounds just fine. But as soon as you change preset or even reload the default preset the LFO>FLT parameter is cranked up the 80%, resulting in an annoying wah-whah effect. And this happens with every preset. Double tapping the parameter brings it back to 0% but even then some presets still sound a bit wobbly. Double tapping LFO>PITCH resets that parameter to 0% and the preset is sounding o.k. Or do all presets really suppose to sound tipsy and shaky? Also, it is impossible to cancel GLIDE (portamento) and BEND. If you save or overwrite a preset after setting both parameters to 0%, they are both back after you reload the preset. And to finish, if you export your presets the app does save a file (Untitled.vstpreset) but it has no content, the filesize is 0 KB. And you can only do this in the stand-alone version. Tapping the 3 dots in the AUv3 version doesn't do anything. Again, you asked for it, so there you have it. Peace.
