VIRAL SYNTH 2 is here. This free upgrade brings new oscillators, new filters, microtonality, world scales, and a long list of improvements. Please see video above.

Rebuilding and refactoring a robust app like Viral Synth was a major project, but it’s exciting to finally see the app better live up to its potential.

• NEW: 2x Oversampled Oscillators
Saw, Sine, Triangle, Square, and PWM oscillators are now 2x oversampled for bigger lows, cleaner highs, and a more polished sound.

• NEW: Two Modern VA Filters
Introducing T-12 and T-24: two new modern virtual analog filters with smooth self-resonance.

• NEW: Snappier Filter Envelopes & Improved Filter Key-tracking
The new T-12 and T-24 filters respond with tighter, punchier envelopes. Turn up the Filter Mod amount to really hear them move.

• NEW: MICROTONALITY
Explore new sonic territory with 150+ curated microtonal scales, including North Indian scales, Hexanies, and scales by Irv Wilson, Marcus Hobbs, and more.
• Import Scala .scl tuning files and bring your own custom scales into the app.

• NEW: WORLD SCALES
Explore 60+ international scales with selectable root keys. Choose from Arabic, Egyptian, Eastern, and other world scales, then pick the base key that fits your song.

    The new filters sound really good, although I noticed applying a sawtooth or square LFO to the resonance produces a clicking sound.

    Really impressed with this upgrade. Viral is my favorite of the AK lot and my most used and was really hoping for the microtonal update but we got way more. It sounds better, don't know if it's a legit processing change or placebo affect but passed out last night playing with the changes and listening to what I perceived as a huge upgrade. Great stuff. Hoping Nerd gets the same love in the future, but if not- I'm content. Thx @AnalogMatthew

    Good news! And I’m optimistic that the same noise issue will be addressed for J8 as time permits?

    I do love this one actually. This and Retro Keys are right up my alley for sure, love playing with them. And I think striving for filters that make you happy can only lead to better apps for all of us, tbh so cheers to your lofty standards 🖤

    Love the microtonality. How do I change the root note on the microtonal scales. Everything seems to be tuned to the key of C.
