Routing audio from MacBook to Audio Interface outputs
I know this forum is focused on iOS usage, but I'm hoping there are some Mac users that might have a solution for this.
When connecting AUM on my iPad to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface, I can route the audio to either outputs 1 & 2, or outputs 3 & 4. On my MacBook however, the audio connection simply shows as "Scarlett 2i4 USB" and the output defaults to outputs 1 & 2. Is there any setting, method, driver, or anything else that would allow me to direct output to specific output ports on the audio interface?

I believe Focusrite has a Mac app for configuring the interface. You might want to check their site for setup instructions.
They have a utility called "Focusrite Control 2" but it's only compatible with 4th-gen interfaces. Mine is 1st gen. Maybe I'm just out of luck.
I’d suggest asking Focusrite support. Perhaps there is a MacOS driver for it.
I'll do that. Their website says that the device is "class compliant" and requires no drivers for MacOS, but we'll see what they say.
Have you checked the Audio MIDI Setup utility? It’s an app on your Mac that shows your devices and their ins/outs.

Depends on what You need to do and what software You use?!
In most DAWs you can access all in/out ports of the connected interface.
If You need to output system audio to outputs 3&4 go to Audio MIDI Setup and select 'Configure Speakers'.
There You can route system audio to outputs 3&4.
As Mentioned Focusrite Control 2 software (for 4th Gen devices) allows a bit more control over what gets sent to the different outputs.
I have the 18i16 4th Gen as well as a 2i2 4th Gen.

@Samu I like BlackHole. That’s a good utility to have on hand.
I do always have a hard time on Logic Pro finding and routing outputs for some reason.
To get that to work create a Multi Output device in Audio MIDi Setup (Not Aggregate Device).
(Call it for example LoopBack, Select the output(s) you wish you use (speakers, headphones etc) first and BlackHole last and Check Drift Correction for BlackHole).
Then set system Audio Input to BlackHole and output to the LoopBack device You just created, that's the quick and dirty one to be able to sample system audio into for example Koala.
There's plenty of other ways to do the routing but that should get one started
Duh! I'm so used to using Audio MIDI setup for futzing with MIDI I completely forgot that it's also for audio!!
That did the trick for almost everything. Unfortunately Vital Synth doesn't seem to respect the configuration in Audio MIDI Setup. It always defaults to ports 1 & 2, and provides no option to change that. And yes, some software (e.g. VCV Rack) natively allows routing to the available ports, but others (e.g. Audacity and Reaper) do not, but the Audio MIDI Setup fixes it for most of those apps (Reaper conveniently has a button to launch Audio MIDI Setup from within their audio settings panel) with Vital Synth being the surprising exception.
And yeah, BlackHole is a very handy utility. Used it for a couple of years now...

In that case you could use Reapers built-in routing matrix to route it practically anywhere?!
