Not AUv3, but as hosts AUM and Cubasis both have a note facility (though I’m not sure anyone will be making Cubasis the heart of a live set-up 😄)

  • @evenSteven
thanks but lookin for smth that works well inside AUM

  • Fair enough. I thought maybe the Session notes tab in AUM itself would do the trick, but sounds like you have something more specific in mind, hope you can find it 👍

  • Hey, @waka_x, there’s this:
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/session-notes-au/id1552595478

Only $2. I’ve never tried it, but it looks pretty good.

That Notes AU app is neat. I could see me using that, in fact, I'd been thinking of doing something along those lines. I also still want a timer for set lengths. Really hard to see the iPad clock if it's on the floor.

    Aside...

Someone should do an AI version, so if you type in "add more low end" to a note in a channel, it just does it for you, then checks it as "done". I can hear the FlawedCode engines starting up as we speak...

  • plus one for just chords. i put my notes for each song, like what patches, other clues for myself, in what is suggested as the place where lyrics would go. and then pdfs of the lead sheets in the adjacent tab. works great, i just wish it had the export with all collected pdfs functionality (apparently due at some point)

The weird thing about this app is that it doesn't actually save state in the way we'd expect. If you make notes in it, and save an aum session with those notes, the notes will not be there when you open it. You have to give them a title and save them. And then you have to pick them from a list of all your saved notes when you open the aum session again. So you have to remember the name. Absolute madness imo, so although I was excited about this when I first discovered it, I then quickly realized it doesn't work at all the way I hoped / assumed it would. So Rob, yeah there is actually maybe room for a new AUv3 which works differently from this. Dark mode would be appreciated too. This thing is very white, it just doesn't look at all right when loaded in AUM.

  • thanks Gav
it sounds like a bad app...:)
it should save and load with the project
    there s no other way:)

  • also
the only way to read in live acts
    is in night mode...:)

It's a good idea very poorly executed imo

I suppose that’s the reason I never bought it. Those are things reviewers point out in the App Store. Some are from a few years ago, so I was hoping maybe they had since been fixed. Evidently not. It’s a great idea and potentially very helpful, but as it currently exists, more trouble than it’s worth in my own workflow.

Coincidently, Session Notes developer just released AE975 - Aural Enrichment App.

I was so excited about Session Notes when it came out that I bought it right away. Try as I might, I couldn't find a single use for it the way it works. I suggested improvements, but never saw a response.

I've always wanted the equivalent of FL Studio Fruity Notebook. Pages of Text, HTML, or Rich Text which are selectable via automation. I even set out to code one myself years ago (pre AI) and failed.

I haven't kept up with Just Chords recent developments, but from skimming their Discord earlier, it seems like a possible candidate.

I also sent Session Notes dev feedback, no banana. Could never never understand why it was done the way it was. Cmon @Rob_Jackson_Music!

I downloaded JustChords, loaded it in AUM, created a 'new song' and typed a bit in the text field. I didn't name the song, I didn't save anything etc. Closed and opened the aum session, JustChords was now blank. So if this does work, it involves more steps than I'm willing to go through.

  • Mirack has a notepad , don’t think it does images though , it’s free as I gather that you already have Mirack ?

Export/import is already under development and maybe even out. (I don't know that for sure because I'm running on beta versions all the time)

I'm guessing that not creating a song for your notes might be a part of that experience. I haven't had that happen, but it wouldn't have crossed my mind to NOT create a specific song to hold the specific notes, so can't say if there is something weird, buggy, or counterintuitive in general.

I always need songs and specifically in setlists. There may very well be the case that state isn't always saved but that isn't my experience, though I pretty much never use AUM. In loopy if i close down with justchords open on a specific song, when I reopen loopy justchords is still open on that song (and thus whatever notes or pdfs).

Marvelous. No not out yet. But looking forward to it. Thank you

  • Midi sequencer text bud is/would be perfect if dev added text formatting as once teased. Not gonna happen tho

  • I use session notes on some projects. It’s not that bad. You quickly get used to it
