How do I turn off sustain in Scalar 3? Sustain is always on in AUM.

I'm using Scalar 3 in AUM with Pianoteq, and all of the notes played stay sustained forever. I've isolated the problem to Scalar 3 because if I bring up the AUM keyboard and play chords and release them, they are not sustained forever.

How do I fix this?

  • I’m wondering if this is a bug and these are just stuck notes?

  • You might send the Scalar 3 MIDI to a MIDI monitor, to verify that it is correctly sending the Note Off messages. They need to be after the Note Ons to have any effect.

Update: I've figured out that this is a single corrupted chord set. Unfortunately, it is my favorite chord set. This is a commercial third-party chord set that I purchased years ago and have been using it with Scaler 2 on both the desktop and the Scaler 2 app.

I'm trying to figure out if there is an export workflow that will export clean chords. It's really weird to me that a chord set itself can actually manifest this particular weird behavior.

  • Solution: I can drag all the chords into section 3, export as a MIDI arrangement, and then use MIDI detect to re-import

  • I've had a lot of issues with stuck notes and missing notes when using Scaler 3 as a midi effect.

Me too, but this was definitely a corrupted chird. I don't even know how it could happen, but it did, and I am about halfway through exporting 24 presets. It's a bummer, but it's worth it. I really liked these collections of chords.
