haha was wondering if that limitation would bother people.
You can open the choppa app in another window, rename the files (and do anything else to it you like) and the changes are immediately refleted in the AU app - I will try to get the full experience into the AU version... I have yet to flesh out the ipad experience, but I will try to get the ipad version more beefy so you can do more inside the au plugin!

hey guys, I wanted to let you know I pushed an update (1.3.6), so give that a download!
I updated the UI of the iPad version, and it should be much more legible, all the core functionality from the standalone now exists in the AU version, and also added something that I am using myself all the time (in the standalone)
it's the "Transmission" Page.
you can select any input you like, as well I added two royalty free radio stations. How do I know they're royalty free? becasue it's all my own stuff! It's my own sketchbook streaming live 24/7 on random, so you can grab samples of synths, guitars, etc and whatever else you want and use it any way you want.

Can you import a sample from files or is is only from the live mic and streaming urls?
Can you also import from photos to strip the audio like with Resamplr & Koala?

I'm currently shipping an app called "layerz" which is solving some video module things, and then going to add it into choppa as a workflow later. likely a few versions from now.
Appreciate any patience you can extend. I actually just moved to the west coast of Canada from my hometown, so the transition has been a bit rocky. Managed to push out 1.8 while I was doing it, but hard to stay on top of comms while all that is going on.
1.9 is in the pipeline, I am almost ready to push it, just needs more testing. it has multi track sequencing

Not really sampling anything but own Koala. Imo the event list makes more sense than piano roll for "instant play" approach.

just pushed update 1.9 btw, lots of tweaks and a new multi-bank sequencer...
keep in mind, the main purpose of this is to be a performance instrument, rather than a place to scribe your idea.
i would use a 'catch all' bus and have choppa in it, catching entire performance snippets to chop up

My recommended workflow is; take choppa out into the wild, capture random stuff like people busking on the street, random conversations, birds and animals, street noise, what have you, dabble with those
then import choppa into something like garage band on your phone / ipad, and use midi to sequence things.

Dare I say we both learned with this one. It is a bit clunky admittedly, but hopefully it's not something you want to do super often. If you explain your workflow, I would have a better idea

I don't expect you to waste time on me. I'll work it out, or not, but I'm not going lose sleep over it. I was trying to create another bank with the same sample so I have 4 variations of the sequence. I tried, many times but that video made no sense. Especially where you said add a new bank, then tapped plus, then tapped outside the menu. And choosing bank C first. Yeah, don't worry, but it went right over my head, try as I might. I'm using an iPad 9.
Also there is no way out of the Settings menu in landscape mode. Turn portrait though and the done button is there.
ohhh like you want to use it as a source... 🤔 I will add a duplicate bank feature for ya in the next version.
Also I will do another pass on the ipad layouts, and it get good, it's not my first device of choice, so I forget to test it. Thanks for bringing it to my attn!

@eli7vh ....as a source. Not sure what that means. I'd just see myself using the same sample in each bank for different sequencer patterns. Although now I mention it I'm not sure how the banks work in that context. Like switching through A to C would seamlessly change to another sequence?
I noticed you are using the phone so I figured that might be the reason. There's an easy way around it though so no hurry.
I've never named a bank but if I could use the same sample as above I do that. But to be honest, ABCD is pretty straightforward so it's not a big deal. Thanks for the reply

@Ailerom ohhh I get it. Honestly, the sequencer itself is only just a toy. Recommend loading choppa as an effect in a real sequencer like garage band or whatever is hot these days and triggering the samplers that way. Videos of this will all be coming soon. - That said, this does spur my curiosity a little bit, so maybe something will come of it.
@MMXXIV Currently there is no way to save the 4 bank state. It never crossed my mind because I don't use it that way, that said. Snapshots are an obvious quick-add that will make it into 1.10. thank you.
I guess I am programmed to look at things like a guitarist. And I like recording something, chopping it up and moving the bits around. It's fun, interesting and can produce unexpected and cool musical ideas that are nothing like the intended recording. So in this context I'm looking at the process a bit like a verse, chorus, bridge type of thing. I also like to do that just for jamming or practice. Like record a few chords and chop them into a different arrangement to practice lead playing. There is another app I've been using where I have asked for a random feature so I can play something and randomise the slices so I am practicing with something completely unexpected. It really helps with improvising. Hope that provides some idea of the odd way I use things like this.
