The real question is, "Why on earth would you even consider doing that?"
Upgrading to a new OS right away if you depend on your device for professional work is unnecessary at best and foolhardy at worst. Repeated experience has proven it's often weeks / months before all music apps and hardware glitches are flushed out with major IOS/iPadOS updates.
Even if anyone could say with confidence that Loopy Pro itself works ok, there's no way anyone could say that all your plugins and hardware will.
Is anything to gain that's worth the risk?
Good place to gather opinions though I guess. But I still say, wait, wait, then wait some more, unless you have nothing to lose. There is no going back.
I'm with @wim and agree with the points he made. Just wait a bit.
I still haven't gone to 26 for this reason, now I need to double check how to make sure I can go from 18 to 26 and not get bumped straight to 27.
FFS..
I don’t recall “intelligence” taking so much space but I had it disabled in ios26, so never looked.
This time, there’s no kill switch for Apple Intelligence. So far I’ve found you have to disable Siri and block it in screen time.
Everything seems to work so far… I loaded a few busy Logic projects and all plugins seem to work from what I can hear.
Overall, nothing much seems to have changed, not snappier, not slower. The new battery indicator sucks though, much harder to read imo
I’m in between projects so decided to try it, but totally ageee with @wim and @jwmmakerofmusic , you’d be mad to try this for at least a month until the dust settles.
That'll only work for a limited time. If you're ever moving from 18 and don't want to be forced to 27, you better do it real soon.
I’ll certainly be waiting a while before updating.
I just thought it would be a good idea to start a thread so I can get an idea later on of when it’s safe to upgrade. 🙂
Great to know! Please report back if you come across anything show-stopping.
Nah, I don't need Siri AI.
Guys, can someone who has already upgraded, confirm the correct operation of Rebirth (preferably in AUM). Thanks
27 is way nicer than 26 imo. Smoother on my old iPad, and the Liquid Glass has been toned down. I have been using the beta over the summer, and even prefer it over 18. For the record, I avoided 26 as much as possible.
I agree and my music iPad stay offline most of the time.
Last time I upgraded iPadOS is for the multi windows. Unless my main music apps forced me to upgrade with ground breaking new features, I will not ugrade iPadOS.
Since I upgraded to 27 wav files are now being opened with sample crate instead of the quick preview.
Anyone got an idea how to change this back. Changing it in the settings doesn’t help. (“Always open with…)
I have updated yesterday. Feels a little snappier on my M1 MacBook Pro. Tried Cubasis, Loopy, Sand and various Piano AUV3s and didn't notice any bug so far.
Do You have a checkmark next to 'Preview with Quick Look' all the way down on the list under 'Open With'?
I'm asking this since here it works as expected and Quick Look previews .wav files no matter where they are located on the device.
(Removed the image as it apparently made the thread load ultras slow even though it was only ~170kb)
I'm in the cautious updater camp. I updated to iOS 26 last May.
I'm curious to know if Inter-App Audio has actually been removed from iOS 27. I have a few lumbeat apps I use that have yet to be migrated to Auv3.
Can someone verify whether or not IAA is available in iOS 27?
Yeah, IAA still works just fine.
Thanks!
I went to Software Update and there's an update for 26 available, and at the bottom is an option to upgrade to 27, so I would assume that if you have still have a choice for 26 it would be there along with the 27 upgrade. It's worth a look.
That will only be the case if you're on 26. If you're on 18, I don't believe 26 anything will be an option, at least not for long. If you're on an earlier version that 26, time to update without going to 27 is limited.
At least that's the way it's been the last few major updates. I doubt it has changed. You can stick with the current version for quite some time and still get security updates, but you can't upgrade from a lower version to it.
Same here! I regret jumping head first to IOS 26. Broke my iPhone 12 Pro Max which I used as my main host for Tonex plugin. So I just came back to see if I could make it more solid and the last 26.6.2 worked great for me! No overheating in Loopy Pro even with up to 7 Tonex plugins running! So I'm staying put for now! I agree with WIM also.
btw, I'm not anti-updating in general. If a few possible (probable?) glitches aren't a huge big deal, such as if you're a casual user like I am now, that's very different than if you depend on your device for live or professional work.
Dontcha' all wish we could just back out of an update if needed? ...sigh...
How do we disable this?
Are you only asking about how to disable it, or are you also concerned about not having the extra space taken up?
I'm not entirely against updating either, just not right off the bat in case something doesn't quite work right. That's only me though, and ymmv.
Been a while, friend. I was wondering what became of you.
And good that 26.6.2 worked out for you mate.
iOS 27 is a maintenance update with the only big feature Siri and camera controls.
I updated my iPad Pro last night and spent all day using my different music apps. No issues.
I missed that, its working again now. Thanks 🙏
27 is 26 done right 🤣
Yeah, something like that
