That's a very musclely mostly fixes update....
Copy/paste:
What's New in Version 1.0.4
Important! Patterning will update the database on first launch. This may take up to a minute or two to complete. Hang tight!
This is (mostly) a bug fix update. New features are up next.
Sample Library
• Deleting samples is now possible. Tap “EDIT” in the sample library then select the samples you’d like to delete.
• Batch import of samples from iTunes File Sharing as an import option. Drag your samples / folders into Patterning’s iTunes Files Sharing Documents folder, then choose the import option to quickly move all your samples into your library.
• Ability to rename samples.
• Crop to new sample. Use sample start/end points as crop points for a new sample!
• Added sample use policy. See “i” on help screen.
• Improvements to sample search speed.
• Improvements to memory usage, particularly when using large samples on multiple tracks.
• Fixed a bug that could cause the app to crash with certain (long) audio files.
• Fixed bug which caused CHH and OHH sample folders to be swapped.
• Added warning for loading large audio files (> 5 MB)
Other fixes & additions
• Fixed some issues with scrolling and zooming in timeline.
• Fixed bug which caused MIDI note names in lowest octave to be incorrectly displayed.
• Stability improvements
• Added cancel option when deleting songs.
• Added cancel option when opening/creating new song.
• Fixed bug which could cause Patterning to be unable to launch in Inter App Audio host apps.
• Fixed bug which caused MIDI Clock to send even when disabled.
• Added “Send Always” option for MIDI clock sync.
• Use “Open In” from other apps to import custom artwork for your drumkit.
• Renamed “EUCLIDEAN MODE” to “DIVIDE MODE” to avoid confusion.
Updates
• Updated to latest version of Audiobus (2.2.2)
• Updated to latest version of the Spectacular Sync Engine.
• Minor fixes for iOS9.
The file saving/trimming/deleting/importing update is really important to the core usage of this app and I am thankful.
I admire the designers of Patterning and consider it a work of art. Wow.
AWESOME! Loads up super easy in cubasis as iaa instrument now and that sample library is SUPER FAST!
THANKS BEN!
Cool
Update took one minute on 800+ samples. I went immediately to sample screen. Zero load time on my samples menu. That's huge. And edit menu has crop and delete AND rename. Oooooooooeeeeeeeee! I'm Mr. Meeseeks look at me! (poof)
Ahhh yes. Have 3000+ samples so my biggest issue with Patterning is now solved.
Time to load some more in!
Lovely. I hope sample preview, mapping different kits to song parts, and song / pattern WAV export is in the feature update.
Thanks, team Olympia.
how about sample preview before loading, is that there?
Please say yes, someone, anyone.
So this can be used like an Mpc now with the create new sample from start/end parameter?! That is really awesome.
what about sample audition is it there?
Not yet
@kobamoto
ok thanks Aphex, and thanks Olympia for the update I'm looking forward to it
Great, I got it awhile back and had not had time to use it much. I rediscovered just how awesome this app is yesterday though but suffered through a lot of crashes and went to check for an update and there was none. Now this morning ,bam , the fix is in. I can't wait to dig in.
This update is kickass.. Love it. I just made two track using it like an old school sampler, starting with a long sample and chopping it up.
One question though? Is there a way to make a sample cut itself out when re triggered? So far I cannot find a way to do this.. Only way is to set another track to the same mute group and trigger it when I want the sample to stop
Like a legato mono mode for a sample instead of poly mode?
Sort of a work around is to load let's say bass drum, put few steps into seq. and then go into: samples/kicks and just click on different kicks to audition them.
Not a bad thought. Thanks.
audition is definitely on the way so no worries. I'm only impatient because I love this app so much. I do wonder which one of us geniuses had a problem with calling it EUCLIDEAN MODE, I preferred that over divide mode.
Sounds intriguing. I've just begun delving into Patterning. Love it so far even before the update. Did you chop the sample within Patterning or with another app.?
This and Samplr are worth the price of the ipad alone for me. Thanks for the update and looking forward to sample audition in the future.
Agreed. If Samplr or Patterning were standalone hardware with a touchscreen, expect a $600+ pricetag with no possibilty of bug fixes in the future or cool new features...
Left on my dream list:
A sample audition section.
Punch-in midi triggering from external devices for live addition of beats to a pattern. Or just a Jam page like in Elastic Drums.
Linking of songs or multiple sets of instruments within a song.
Steal the idea from analogkit and have a way to share patterns/kits with others/self.
But this update is extremely satisfying. Thank you.
I really need a few rock kits for it but hate Using iTunes. Any suggestions?
I got about 60GB of wav samples on PC and since "transfer" is a PITA, I pre-listen on PC, candidates are moved to respective folders, draged into iTunes, (that I hate too) and then I do a massive transfer of all folders into AudioShare and then delete them from iTunes....to keep it empty...I use iTunes for sample transfer only
Then I weed through them in AS, (using delete a lot)...I have to, on a 16gb iPad
Sounds pretty dope, i'll have to load some loops in.
Thank you Olympia Noise for making an already awesome app even more awesome!
Imagine the glitchy goodness if you could automate sample start/end points
A reverse layer would be cool too. Maybe once cpus get meatier a whole Looperator-esque layer can be added. drooool...
THIS.
The trigger function on the Jam page of ED but for Patterning. That would be so useful for fills, builds and live variations. Or indeed something like the 'remix' pad in Genome. Both mute the instruments in question, allow you to add different hits, but retain the position in the pattern exactly for when you release your finger... they are amazingly playable and so good.
