@Fruitbat: Actually I'm a drummer so I want to do both intricate things rhythmically and also some EDM type things...I didn't find BH "expensive" : The beatpacks are only 5 or so dollars..Thanks for your input..sorry for the late response but I'm new and I just found out the forum doesn't sent us email notifications. .Also, re" doesnt play well with others"..it has IAA and audiobus, no? Re Gadget, I find the BH sounds more robust and more to my liking.
I find BeatHawk more to my taste than iMPC Pro, but as I've found in the past, it's often better to recommend towards a persons use than my own taste.
Yep I agree that the packs are not expensive for what they are, but many would class them as expensive in iOS terms.
The doesn't play well with others is for iMPC which does not have AB and I have found buggy in IAA on occasion.
To be fair both are great apps. Have fun.

glad to help, but according to the things you want to do I'd suggest the impc pro, if you look up youtube videos on sequencing and sample editing of both apps, you will see what I mean.
what do you mean when you say you want to do intricate things?
and btw Iaa has been flawless for me on the impc pro
Intricate" meaning more than just four on the floor
it has 2/4 to 12/8 time signatures in addition to 4/4, also has tempo automation, I don't have beat hawk installed anymore but maybe someone can say whether beat hawk has those things as well?
I my honest opinion I think that you should start with Garagrband then if you like that I would suggest that you get Korg Gadget and Audiobus that would be the most logical startup kit you could get! You want to get the most bang for your buck because these two apps are all in ones

I like iMPC Pro, or better put, I want to like it. It is shiny and pretty in places and has many boxes ticked. However, I just don't end up making too much with it, however much I try.
BH is just a more productive playground. For me. I get songs going quickly there. I will also admit a lasting prejudice against iMPC Pro for its lack of working with AudioBus. I fully understand and respect their commercial choice, but I don't personally agree with it.
If anything I find the Tabletop environment more of an option because it allows, well, more options, but -again- repeated use and progress (however slow and inelegant) is the only metric I trust and more happens to date (for me) in AB/DAW land on iOS than anywhere else...

Yeah,Sampletank is cool too...I don't have audiobus yet...I'm gonna purchase that once I buy my 2md app...I'm watching the SoundtestRoom audiobus tutorials as I write this.
There's a drum machine called DrumPerfect Pro, that I am beta testing. It is not on your list. It does everything that you ask, different timings, accents, multi sample, it has real scenes, multiple kits, MIDI, sample import, a drummers dream.
Sound link, yeah ..I've checked that out..I already remembered that I forgot to list that one by Steve (something)...By all accounts, that's supposed to be the best for natural sounding drums ..Are the samples multi velocity though? (as in a snare drum w 4 different velocity levels..)

And if you haven't tried samplr yet it's the best for live playing ghost notes than any other app that I've experienced, it's where I do most of my iOS drumming.
No, but I certainly have checked it out and it's (samplr) one of the primary reasons I went purely iOS rather than desktop (aside from the fact that I still haven't come to grips with windows)...
Hey, BTW anyone have any input as to audio interfaces for iPad? I'm looking at focusrite one or apogee one. Or just thinking about USB mics (sE USB mic).,Thoughts?

the apogee is just so versatile, small, and convenient but great quality

the combination of the arp, way the volume is set up on samples, and the fact that you can trigger samples via sliding in addition to tapping just makes it drumtastically good for fills and breaks
Thanks again Kobamato...I just hate to pay for that mic on there I'll never use..but it does seem the way to go ..That and the equitek CAD e100s..BTW that headphone output on there...that's for monitoring, right?
I also like the sE1usb 1x because its hand holdable with a '1 condensor element and no interface needed..That and micSwap pro could do the trick...
